A little confused about saving my work...

Post by cobray »

I thought I knew how to save my work properly, but I lost a bit of stuff, so I did some experimenting and wound up even more confused. So a couple of questions:

What is the best way to save while working in sequence mode?
I'm pretty sure I switch to disc mode and work from there, but what is the next step?

Would using the USB stick be convienent to save and load from?

Also, I'd like to get rid of my experimental saves, but cannot figure out how to delete them.

I've watched the video on this and looked at the quick start manual, but maybe I was too tired to really let it sink in. I will look in the operations guide when I have more time.

Thanks for your help,

I don't have much experience with sequencing, however take in mind:

- always save your PCG file with your SNG file.
- loading/saving from a USB stick takes longer (especially large PCG files)
- make backups, probably it's best to use the SSD as main storage, backup on an USB stick and preferably also on your computer or online (in case of fire etc).

Saving goes from the disc mode save tab. It's not a bad idea to include your PCG file unless you never edit your sounds.

Deleting files goes by switching to the utility tab and selecting it from the utility menu. Wildcards (*) apply but be careful with them.

Thanks for your help guys. I've been able to do what I need to do. I find it helpful to rename the song after each session. I use the date and time so I know exactly what I'm getting when I go in there again.

Thanks SanderXpander, I'll try the Utility mode to get rid of the experiments that I don't want.

And...

there is a way to load at startup the songs (i.e. for a gig)

The manual say to do "save all", this produce a .KSC file that can added to KSC Auto-Load.

the next question is :

Save all save also the references to all the EXs library, but only the references ? I say, this don't duplicate SSD memory usage ?

There isa way to produce a .KSC file that load only the songs ?

thanks

What if I got my Kronos to tell me that he's unable to save the file? After experimenting I found out it's only the sng. file.

Will do more experimenting tomorrow.
