The demo sounds great, but how come the high notes sound very "plinky" - like they have a very short release? I think that's the one thing that comes across in many piano samples and the one thing that makes me like the Yamaha S90ES piano so much... the S90ES has a full bodied release in the high notes. When you play a grand piano - the high notes tend to ring a lot more than what I hear on these samples. I'm not sure if the release time is really longer, just that these sampled pianos seem to decay so fast. Anyone else notice this?

Well, if that is your main concern, we should switch to the plugin thread ... 8)

What Korg says

Post by JPROBERTLA »

For what its worth, in my last conversation with Korg support about the Kronos (am almost weekly event) an unnamed person told me that EX's like this will use mostly SSD for storage and will only minimally effect RAM space.

So, where is the Austrian Grand? korg.de says "available from now on" at https://www.korg.com/kronosSoundLibraries - but here it's still not available.
Again a fail with announcing too early? btw: in Germany it's 9:33 pm

Translated from the German site:

Available now! EXs-12 "Austrian Grand"

EXs12 SGX-1 Austrian piano
Contents: approx 6:08 GB PCM samples, 32 programs, 16 SGX-1 Piano type

This famous Austrian instrument KORG has recorded one of the three grand pianos in the world specifically for the SGX-1 sound engine. All the famous "97 keys" with their extended bass registers are included in this library. The extra 9 keys are achieved here by Key Transpose and MIDI data. The strikingly full sound, resulting from the vibrations of the entire wing body is mapped to perfect in every detail. As a variant, the instrument also from the position of the player was recorded and integrated with into the Library. So enjoy the direct comparison and juxtaposition of the two pianos, which are as KRONOS presets included in this library.

249.00 usd ? That is a joke within a joke. 99.00 would be a high price for this, no matter how good it is.

Can't agree here.
99 dollar would be the price for a well done piano sample set for the software mass market.
For a 6Gb premium sample set for a hardware instruments 250$/less than 200€ is not too expensive at all from my view. I would pay that anytime, if the results is a first class grand, cutting well through in band play and mix.

Over the last several months, you have mentioned several complaints from your country.

Perhaps your distributor is not fact checking ?

With "fact checking" you mean "asking for the latest delay" each month/week/day?
Yes, maybe Korg Germany did not do enough of that.

Seriously, where do you think did they get the info for daring to put such an official announcenment online? From the Dalai Lama???

I'm looking forward to this one. $249 is a little high, but oh well!
Yamaha S90es, Hammond XK-1, Kronos 88, Gibson Les Paul, American Deluxe Strat, Taylor accoustic, Vox amp, Motion Sound Pro 145, KC-550s x2, a bunch of plugins, and a Kawai grand.
