So this is one aspect of the M50 I haven't really touched at all and now I'm really having troubles understanding the limits and capabilities of the M50 in that regard.
Essentially, what I want to do is create/map out a pattern of arpeggios for a specific rhythm in 5/4 (or rather, 10/8, or 20/16, to be most precise, as the rhythm is most easily catch-able in 16th notes).
The pattern would be I..I..I..I..I...I... (I being the accents, dots the pauses/breaks, quieter tones, whatever). The BPM 95.
Ivan,
Firstly M50 doesn't support 10/8, or 20/16 meters.
Secondly, creation of arpeggios in M50 is a bit tricky to explain at forum but I have answered something similar half a year ago, please search previous posts.
And finally, you can record short midi phrase in DAW and convert it to M50 arpeggio using Aldan Librarian (pardon me for self advertising).
The M50 does indeed support 10/8 meter. To do so go into sequence mode. When you arm the sequencer for recording you can touch the meter and switch to 10/8 or any meter you choose.2/4 right on through 16/16
Do not under estimate the power of the KORG sequencer. It can do most anything but dishes.
The arpeggiator is quite interesting and besides some parts of the interface, can be quite intuitive to program.
The basic idea is that it sorts the notes you play into order (or leaves them in play-order) and assigns them to numbers 0-9.
You can then program in any series of steps that use those notes 0-9.
For example you could program a pattern 0, 1, 2, 2, 0+2.
If you played in the notes C, D, and E together, the arpeggiator would play: C, D, E, E, C + E, repeat.
I'm not sure about setting the meter, but I think you can set the pattern length - which is the same thing. if your steps are 16th notes then you can set the pattern length to 20 for example. or 40 if you want a more varied pattern over two bars, etc.
The drum mode basically allows you to stick specific notes to those numbers 0-9 instead of having it use the keyboard input.
I'd suggest you go into global mode and have a look at some of the preset patterns.
