Korg Trinity - Windows 7
I have been trying to connect my Trinity and Windows 7, but I can't.
I know that I am not an expert but I thought that connecting keyboards and computer was really easy.
Is it possible with TRINITY and WINDOWS7? I would appreciate if any of you could help me because I don't Know what else I can try.
Interface:
I am using a usb-midi interface called UM-ONE, according to its system requirements it works with windows 7 - 32/64bits, I tried with both OS.
http://www.rolandus.com/products/produc ... ductId=498
I had no problems in the installation of the interface.
Trinity MIDI out -> Cable MIDI in
Trinity MiDI in -> cable MIDI Out
Cable USB -> PC USB
Software:
I am using Trinitro, in options:
Midi input Device UM-ONE
Midi Ouput Device UM-ONE
Midi Chanel 1
Trinity:
Midi chanel 01
Local control off
Enable program, bank, combination change ... enable exclusive etc.
------------------
When I try to send a program to the trinity or take a program from the trinity (in both cases using the Trinitro) I always got this message: NO RESPONSE FROM TRINITY.
Any help is welcome ... I am desperate, thanks in advance.
-----
Edit. I have tried now Steinberg Piano The Grand and it is not working I am starting to think that Trinity doesn't work with windows 7

In the desktop, right click on the shortcut created by trinitro and under the "Compatability tab" in the "Compatability Mode" option, select Windows 95 or 98. It should work after that. Good luck.
Best,

There's no reason for it not to work. If anything, it is likely the MIDI interface. Do you know how to perform a MIDI loopback test? Do you have some MIDI tool (software, like MIDI-OX or similar) installed? Instead of the Trinity's MIDI OUT, plug your cable MIDI IN into the MIDI THRU of your Trinity and you should be set for a loopback test.
SOS ... I am Lost with MIDI and Windows
I couldn't get anydata using that program ...
I have bought another interface ... some problem ...
I have tested another program VanBasko player ... and no results ...
I have read a lot in google and many people have problems with W7
So I come back to beginning ...
1) I don't know how to configure it
or
2) It simply doesn't work in w7
Does any of you have results with Vista or WIndows 7?

Focus on a MIDI application that you know works in Windows 7, such as a recent version of Cubase...
MIDI is a standard that has been around for 20 years. It hasn't changed. Because it is a standard, every device that talks it is at least capable of talking to another device that speaks it - even if they don't know what to do when they get the data.
What I mean is, that your Trinity is not 'incompatible' with Windows7. The only thing that Windows7 even knows exists is the program you are using, and the interface you've connected via USB (or whatever other PC connection).
It's worth pointing out, another thing that often gets overlooked is the labelling of ports. Your interface will be labelled In and Out. For 99% of devices, this is written as an interface of the computer, not an interface for your keyboard. You could just as easily use it with 20 keyboards as you could with one.
With MIDI, Out always goes to In and vice versa. Some people will try to connect 'In' on the interface to 'In' on the keyboard for example.

Thanks for your time.
The interface is the only thing that I am sure that I know how to connect ...
MIDI Iin ->OUT
MIDI OUT -> IN
And yes, I assigned MIDI IN and OUT with the INTERFACE MIDI-USB ... not the windows midi mapper etc ...
I will try cubase 6 ... but seeing that nobody says I have tested trinity with windows vista or 7 and it has worked ...

If you say this then you've completely missed my point...KaRPiN wrote:I will try cubase 6 ... but seeing that nobody says I have tested trinity with windows vista or 7 and it has worked ...
MIDI consists of a number of fixed message types - note on, note off, controller change, sysex, etc. doesn't matter what device or what operating system is sending or receiving them. If you've got a MIDI interface that works with your PC, it will work just as well with your Trinity as it would with a brand new KRONOS, for example.
The only things that can not be working is the program you are using, or the interface you are using (or the drivers for it).
I do know that people have reported problems sending sysex patches with some of the cheaper cable-type USB-MIDI interfaces.

Well I have been given the answer by a 14 year old boy now at home.
he said something like this (in Spanish) "When were you born? in the 19th century jajaja you are nuts. Look and learn: midi with midi in .... and midi out with out "
He changed the cables and it works perfectly with Windows 7 ... I can't believe it, all my life was the other way ...
Anyway thanks to all of you for your time and patience

That's interesting. 99% of the time it is the other way around, although a few of these kinds of simple USB interfaces try to simplify the matter...

Before I saw your last post, as a respone I just wanted to write that more than once in my life things that I knew for sure turned out to be wrong (and MIDI in/out interpretation has more than one occurrence along that line). I since learned to doubt myself and challenge even common sense - when all else fails. When loopback did not work and X-Trade wrote in his earlier post that '99%', it would have been wise to consider the remaining 1% and give it a try. Good that we have kids around who are not dogmatised.KaRPiN wrote:The interface is the only thing that I am sure that I know how to connect ...

I have TR Rack and WIN7/64 - there is COMPLETLY NO PROBLEM - ith several MIDI interfaces - the same - NO PROBLEM
But there is serious problem because noone EDITOR wants to work properly with TR Rack - even tritools or MidiQuest.
MidiQuest sems to have everything I want, but there are stil problems with it.
Moreover - I look for any editor that will allow me to put PCG from file to Trinity Rack

Fix for error "no response from the trinity"
Go to trinitro and click View/Options/Midi(tab) then make sure you choose Input Device as USB MIDI and Output Device as USB MIDI. Keep the Midi Channel 1 as it is.
Next click My Keyboard/Module tab and make sure you chose the right details there.
This is how my windows 7 to Trinity v3 connection was fixed. Goodluck
