Kronos getting hot

Post by lotty1 »

I've notice my kronos smells as if something getting hot, it smells a bit like bakelite burning.
The kronos is only couple of weeks old and it works fine but the smell a bit of a worry.
The smells worst through the key bed, may be because it’s still new?
Just wondered if anybody else has experienced similar smells?

I can't say without smelling your Kronos...

Is it an intense or a light smell? If it's rather intense it can be a frying component, probably a resistor, which should not happen on a new device.

mine had that smell for about the first 3-4 days. It was really strong. I could smell it 5-6 feet away. Now that it's almost 3 weeks old, I don't smell it at all unless I get really close to it (face within 6 inches or so).

I've had a smell the first week or so... but not since then... and I've had the keyboard now for about 6 weeks.

Mine had a new plastic smell for a while.

But make sure you can hear the hiss/hum of the fan (put your ear next to a slider). If your fan is not working, I would have it fixed immediately.

Yes i have that smell its like somthing is running to hot i was thinking it would burn off eventualy but i always turn them off when not in use. I have a k61 mounted over a k88 and i think the 88 smells the strongest but it has less hours on it. Jerry
