new to keyboard.. does the karma have good strings?

Post by rikismyname »

Please help as i have hours to decide...

hi, i need a keyboard to play strings,piano,horns... but mainly i need lots of strings to play about with as i'm looking at playing some songs in my dads band who play "the Shadows" (hank marvin etc.) music.

Also the moss board that is included with a karma i ight buy... will this have extra strings on it?

or will a korg 50 be better suited?

thanks, rik.

p.s i read online that the keybed is flimsy, plasticy, cheap feeling on the korg kara, is this true?
I'm used to my dads korg M1 and korg X5 keybeds, so how does the karma's compare.

Karma strings and orchestral sounds are awesome.
Spend some time going through all the sounds and combis making a note of those you love.

Also, if you can get hold of the EXB-P02 "Studio Essentials" expansion board it has awesome orchestral sounds and a whole lot more.

Cheers

What's the price for the used Karma keyboard? Make sure all the buttons work!

The strings are good, the horns are average, and the pianos are sub-par on the Karma keyboard. You can definitely improve the strings and horns by tweaking, but the pianos are what they are. It's great that the MOSS board is included, however, factory MOSS patches weren't anything to get excited about.

The Karma's keybed isn't as good as the Triton classic. It's been years since I played an M1, so I can't recall how good that keybed was for a comparison.
