Editing pitch

Post by Crispy12 »

Hi,
I just downloaded the ielectribe gorillaz version. I"m very new to this sequencing software, is there anyway I can edit the pitch of each step separately so that I can make a melody or bass line? I was looking at the Doncamatic example, it seemed to have individual steps pitched separately. I tried doing it real time, that was so hard!

I'm guessing that the Gorillaz edition works exactly the same as the standard version. There's no way of perfectly sequencing pitch in iElectribe but if you set the motion sequence control to trigger hold and record the movement of the pitch knob then you should be able to get a stepped melody (sort of) with a bit of tweaking. iElectribe is more of a rhythm and percussion sequencer so it will be hard to get the pitches just right if you're working in a certain key.

The Gorillaz edition accepts MIDI notes, so it is much easier to record than the knob twiddling we're left with on the standard version.

I didn't know that it could accept external midi notes. Maybe that will be included in a future update to the original version
The whole thing about the samples not being cleared kind of put me off with the the Gorrilaz edition anyways.

Yea, I'm with you on that. I have no intentions of trying to profit from my music, but having some kind of weird stipulation like that completely barring any future possibility of profit is unacceptable.

Well I've been using the ielectribe and the iMS20 in a few new tracks that I'm working on. I'll be selling the album when I'm done and clearing samples is a hassle. I'd expect the samples to be cleared before the app went on sale to be honest.

So I'm trying to use the step sequencer but when I press the arrow only the red light moves. How do I get the green light to move too cuz my music is stuck on just the first 16 steps

Hit the 'settings' key and change the 'length' to 1, 2, 3 or 4.
This will increase your 'steps' to a maximum of 64.

Hope that helps
