Hi Ozy.
Your onto a completely different subject at this stage that I know very little about. Horoscopes and individuals star signs are not something I care too much about to research.

Horoscopes and reading star signs is all just fantasy to me. On the subject of the Galactic Alignment I'm only interested in the provable science, not fantasy. The only point where star signs come into all this is when applied as a unit of measurement which is called the Zodiac.

They mean nothing more than that to me. It's only a measurement of time and needs to be defined so the zodiac is standardised and means something.

Just like the Earth rotates each day, and each year it tilts forwards and backwards, they too are units of measurement we call days and years. The Galactic Alignment is the exact same thing. Happens like clockwork every 26,000 years and will continue to happen long after 2012 comes and goes.

Regards
Sharp.

whatever.

I don't see the point in spreading bullshit [the galactic alignment prophecies], even for the sake of "rebucking" them.

The internet is full of junk as it is,

(and people's head is even fuller of junk),

and once you start discussing it

people won't tell the difference between facts and bullshit.

Well, whatever: the world ended on May 21st, according to some "scientific" prophecy, so what's the point of even being here today ?

What if the world did end yesterday and we have all created our own afterlife like in "Lost". But instead of spending eternity trapped on the damn island, we are forced to spend eternity waiting for the Kronos to be released! Those who have spent their life doing good deeds will be rewarded with their very own Kronos. But those who have been bad will be condemned to a life of waiting, with nothing more than a PDF manual to play with.

HAHA i love it.

I did some lookin around on the internet concerning galactic alignment. I found this great picture showing how the world will look if we undergo polar shifting...

well, if this is Hell, my hell today was:

* taking rest after last night's game [good performance for the girls btw]

* having cappuccino al fresco, reading sunday newspapers

* playing my current rig all the afternoon

If this is hell and is going to repeat daily for the rest of my life,

having being a very, very naughty boy has been a good investment strategy.

Everybody who tomorrow will be trapped in taking the tube to their job at 6am,

can have their Kronos Paradise anytime, I'll be content with my do-nothing, synth-filled hell

Galactic alignment prophecies are bullshit in the sense that nobody knows what will happen. I've no interest in superstition, it's the facts of it all that interest me.

Here's some of the points I like.....

1: How did the Mayan people thousands of years ago work out our position in the Galaxy with pin point accuracy and time, when only 400 years ago we believed we would fall off the flat face of the earth if we sailed too far.

2: On the subject of Pole Reversal, fact is that right now Magnetic north is moving 40 miles each year ***And Accelerating*** .

3: The magnetic poles on earth have flipped more than once in earth's history. We know this by the study of magnetic field trapped in sections of rocks.

4: The Sun flips it's magnetic posts most every 11 years during it's regular 11 cycle, next one is due in 2012, as is the galactic alignment.

5: Look at the carvings in stone from the Mayan people which are set to happen at the end of the calendar. Now turn on your TV and watch the news. There's some pretty strange stuff going on regarding natural disasters.

6: The Mayan people believed in Aliens and that they would return. Go to youtube and enter in “UFO disclosure”. There's a 2 hour press conference of high ranking people talking openly about their involvement. The minister of defence for Canada and even countless people in charge of Nuke silos all saying the same things.

1) I don't have a TV in my house.

2) I read newspapers though (15/20 minutes a day, vs 2 hours for books),

and they are full of picures of Important People, people in charge of Very Important Things (even more powerful than nuke missiles),

who say with Serious Faces that they can create 1 trillion euros out of thin air and allow the Greek government and bank to get away with fraud,

if only I keep quiet, don't panic, don't ask questions, vote for them and pay my taxes.

If I might pretty please buy some more Italian Treasury bonds, they'd be even more proud of me and they will be able to HELP me and of my family. Really.

If only I give them my money.

If I just could borrow some money and give it to them (I could even borrow at 3% and lend at them at 3.5%!), I would be even better served. I'd earn profits and be a patriot.

So, you see,

1) I stopped listening to Powerful people long time ago (more or less when they sent me killing other people for a living),

2) and when they talk about absurd things like Aliens,

3) I know that they can talk about even bigger bullshit without missing a beat.

4) I know that the Maya were so smart that they disappeared, and were so articulate that they couldn't even write down their names. All they left was vague pictures,

in which somebody, AFTER astronomy was invented, believed he "could" read "something" which "could" have been astronomical measurements.

I am far more interested in what science says today, in writing, in a reasonable and refutable way, errors included,

than in nostalgic fantasies about a failed civilization.

I've heard this most often explained as effects of climate change as a result of global warming. Also, regarding seismic activity, this hasn't really changed or increased at all. It's just that we hear it more because of 24-hour news coverage all over the world (which we didn't have 20 years ago). Where I live, the climate has definitely changed. We get much more severe thunderstorms than we used to, as well as more ice storms in the winter, where we used to get vast amounts of snow. My first ice storm was in 1993 (i was in 8th grade)... i had never even heard of freezing rain until then. now we get them every winter.

I don't discount that we're heading into this Galactic Alignment thing, not saying it's not going to happen, but I don't think it's nearly as serious as people have been saying. If the poles shift about 40 miles a year, that means it will take around 7000 years to completely invert... i'd say by then the earth may be a completely different world by then, but I doubt this is all going to happen all at once... who knows if humans will even exist by then? I'll be surprised if we make it through the next century the way we keep trashing the planet.

To bad the Mayan's wasted so much time on their calendar, since it didn't help them survive their own society's destruction and the later Conquest, did it? Maybe if they had sent explorers to discover Europe, Africa, and Asia, they could've brought back the knowledge to survive and thrive better.

It would've been far more helpful to predict that a couple hundred white men wearing steel and riding horses would attack and enslave them for their gold and labor. Then maybe the survivors wouldn't be speaking Spanish today. That's the problem with prophesy, it doesn't seem to ever help those who need it the most. The future can't be predicted, in general, with much accuracy, particularly concerning human events. Predicting the movement of celestial bodies only gives an illusion of predictability. Knowing that an eclipse is going to occur has been used repeatedly to fool others that the people knowing this prediction have some special, general ability to know or affect the future, but all they can do is predict eclipses, which isn't of much practical value unless you can fool people into thinking it's more important than it really is. The only power it has is the power people give to it to control themselves. The more that people are kept in ignorance, the more power that others have to control them using knowledge they don't have against them. That's why tyrannical regimes try to control the access to information by their people - to keep control over their minds and bodies. North Korea's leader worship is the most obvious, sad, and repugnant example of ignorance used as a weapon of mass deception.

Int's called the Blue Men effect

You know the Blue Men? The Tuaregs?

You know when some New Age fat chick, or some busybody expert, tells you that

"in the hottest days of August you should wear a heavy wool cape, because the Tuareg do that to protect themselves from the heat of the desert",

and that

"when you are thirsty, in a hot day, after hard work, you shouldn't gobble a fresh beer, or a chilly cola: you should SLOWLY SIP HOT green tea: that's what the Blue Men do, in the Sahara".

Well, I always think: "heck, maybe that's why the effing Tuareg are almost fully extinct",

and drink a beer while wearing a cotton t-shirt.

I feel that I should point out that the magnetic poles shifting is different to an actual polar shift of our planet's alignment.

When the magnetic shift does happen it will accelerate and swap over fairly quickly, as it is probably on its way to doing and happens every few thousand years.
Biggest problem is that we'll all have to change our compasses. iPhones will need an update to get the new 'north' right
Not sure that there would be that many geological effects as magnetism as a force is relatively weak.

iPhones and cell phones don't use magnetic compasses. They use GPS, which isn't dependant on magnetic poles. They use atomic clocks to send out timing information, which allows receivers to determine a 3D location using triangulation from 4 or more satellites.

so, this galactic inversion isn't really a big catastrophe?

much ado about nothing...

come one, Sharp, try harder,

present us with some juicy terror pretext. I want to worry!

i powerdisked through it in a month. It was like a really intense survival-themed soap opera. It's fun to watch, but don't think i really took much from it. Music is good... a little repetitive. Show makes the gears in your head turn though.
