I think you'd want the DVD/CD burner for other Kronos tasks, instead of just restoring.Lou wrote:but I didn't think Korg was expecting everyone to go out and purchase a DVD drive to do a restore data?
How do you Restore Data, without a DVD drive in Kronos?

You wont be able to get access to the OS code let me assure you !!! You'll be able to drag and drop samples/Sound banks etc etc for sure
MidnightPackage wrote:In the most recent All-Access demo, the gentlemen demonstrating the Kronos said that the Kronos will appear like an external hard drive to your computer when it's connected through USB. I am sure that there are multiple ways to move data to and from the Kronos, but it seems like dragging and dropping files from your PC will be made easy.

Yes. B
But I had a little trouble running it on USB-1 external DVD players.
The reference Guide contained in the DVD says that the DVD contains drivers for EVERY existing DVD player.
But darn, I can't access them until I can run the DVD...

That is true, but the way a lot of devices work is that if you place a file with the right name, in the right location, and restart the device, it will patch the OS. In any event, I am sure there will be more than one way to perform this.TSUNAMI wrote:You wont be able to get access to the OS code let me assure you !!! 1. Put DVD in computer (you have one, right?)
2. Move files to USB stick.
3. Insert in Kronos.
4. Global mode has "Update OS" or something like that (I'm not in front of it...)
If correct files are found on USB stick, update proceeds.

This is not official, and I did not read the whole thread, but if I get the gist of it, that's what you are asking.
Factory preload data is already on the HD; you can restore it anytime you want.

Simple, logical and no external USB - CD/DVD drive necessary.StephenKay wrote:1. Put DVD in computer (you have one, right?)

It took two pages of helpful replies to get a logical and final answer, that an external usb - DVD drive is "NOT" necessary if you don't want.
I don't claim to have all the answers, and you seem to have a problem with that?
There's simply to much bashing here and the comfort zone has been reduced by remarks like that. I don't appreciate it thank you!

I thought that maybe there was an updated procedure to the M3 and it appears that there is, now that a Kronos usb folder appears on your desktop, unlike the M3.. Peace.

Lou... are you saying Korg expects us to go out and purchase headphones, audio cables, USB cable, stand, monitors, and coffee cup? Are you Serious man??Lou wrote:Yes this makes sense about an update transfer to a usb and then the K,EnjoyRC wrote:
If you connect a USB CD/DVD burner to your Kronos, you sould be able to read direct from it. Updates/patches that are released for the Kronos, you can simply copy them to a USB flash drive and boot up and upgrade from it. This is what the M3 did. I'm sure Korg is continuing that technology.
but I didn't think Korg was expecting everyone to go out and purchase a DVD drive to do a restore data?
