Audio in

Post by Zimboo »

Hi guys
I just got an EMX1 SD recently and I want to know how to run my friend's bass through my EMX so I can mess around with the sound and we can do some jamming... I've seen people do it on youtube but no one really straight up explains. Thanks :)

1) Plug the guitar in the back of the ESX audio in, press the Auio In Thru button
2) Hit the Audio In part key, then the Keyboard button.
3) Place a note on the first step of your pattern.
4) Hit the Step edit button and arrow down to Gate Time.
5) Change the gate time to 128.0 for a pattern that is 16 in length. This will allow for the guitar sound to last the duration of the pattern.
6) Make sure the audio in volume in set very low to begin with!
7) Hit play to start the pattern, begin to play the guitar.
8. Bring the audio volume up if necessary.

Pg 43 of the manual has a breakdown also if this doesn't help :D

Glad to help! I had the same problem when running my mic through my tribe. This forum and the electribe forum are great resources :D

This helped me to kinda jam with the electribe, but what if I'd want to use the mx effects on my bass? Is it even possible?

Oh yea, and try the arp ribbon on a mic through the audio in for some live stuttering vocals. Great fun

Absolutely it's possible -- whatever efx you assign to the synth part for the audio in will affect the sound. I do this with guitar all the time.

Okay now I'm at a point where audio in thru plays the bass, but I still can't get the 'pattern' play it constantly (so I can actually use the effects) although it works just fine with a mic... weird.

edit: got it working without doing anything but test it with a mic once more... welll at least it's working :D Thanks all for help.
