Question, Pa800 master X-50 Slave (MIDI)

Post by kinanooo »

Hello,

I have a question about wiring Pa800 and X50:

I'm using Pa800 as a master and X50 as a slave keyboard,
and all I need from that is to:

1- Use the pitch bender of Pa800 to control X50's
2- Use the user scale (Quarter Note) of Pa800 to control X50's
3- Use the transpose buttons of Pa800 to control X50's

About the Pitch bender, I could do it :wink: but the item 2 and 3 I couldn't yet.

So, anyone can help me with this matter?

Thanks

Hi mate!
I guess when you're saying X50 like a slave, that you have wired it via midi.
In that case go to
Global --> General Control
from there choose the " transp. control " after you done that tick the
" transpose applied to midi in notes " and change the "scale and transpose position "
to ---> "post-kb & scale " in stead of " post-kb & pre-scale "

this is regarding your 3rd point appling transpose
but if i remember correctly this is what i did to get BOTH quarter tone
and transpose, so this should be the answer to both of your number 2 and 3.

:( Oooops doesn't work,
I'm using Pa800 MIDI Out and X-50 MIDI In

your way is right but if Pa800 is "slave"
how can I control the MIDI Out of Pa800 in transpose and scale??

thanks

hm, I think what you need to do is to use the pa800 as the master keyboard, You will find it in General --> Midi, use it like a master keyboard and then do the stuff i told you before.

Here at my house im using a simple Midi claviatur, nothing special, i just hade remapped it so it takes sounds from upper 2, and did excatly the things i told you, now i'm able to use quarter tone and scale transpose...Hopefully it will work.

But the pa800 IT IS the master keyboard (MIDI OUT).
I tried filters of MIDI Out and tried to take sounds from upper 1 or upper 2 but in vent.
do u think it's X50 problem?
the quarter tone is so important for my work :cry:

Bro i think the problem is that you have connected it to midi out!
Here I have first connected a cable to my "second" keyboard from midi out to the PA800's (MIDI IN)

1- X50 --> MIDI OUT
2- Pa800 --> MIDI IN

and then follow the steps I told you before. This should work.

We work as a small band like keyboard, percussion and a singer so I need two keyboards one for rhythm, accompaniments, strings and some other sounds and the second for solo sounds and pianos.

so it will be easier than managing all this from one keyboard

u cant do that (question no 2 and 3)..i believe u want to use ur pa800 as remote control to change the user scale and transpose data on x50 only..see the midi implementation chart..pa800 cant send midi signal that transmits user scale and transpose measure data..

1) Pitch bender uses Midi CC# and it works perfectly as you experienced.
3) You can also apply transpose to Midi out notes. If it is not applied in your case then check that Global-General-Transp.control and choose "Transpose applies to Style and kbd track"="In real time"

2) But you cannot send user scale note deviations over MIDI. Pa can send/receive user scale selection message with sysex but this is little help when using different kind of keyboard in other end. So you need set up similar user scale on other keyboard manually.

In x50 you can assign needed scales to your programs/combis so depending the what is your need in changing scales this should not be a big issue that you cannot send scale data over midi?
