KRONOS II -- Live Board.

Post by billbaker »

So...

It ain't even out of the box yet, but a lot of us here are getting very familiar with what's in it (all 9 engines, etc.)

What's Kronos II gonna look like? Bigger and better? Leaner and meaner? What features would you give up? What do you still need? Worth waiting a year or so for?

Let's stipulate that Kronos is going to be king of the studio - or at least co-ruler with Oasys.

If you were designing the NEXT Kronos what would the features be.

====== FOR ME ============

Add 1 or 2 engines... not required, just like new sounds (or old... M1, 01W, Wavestation soft engines from Legacy Collection - massive EXISTING patch libraries to access).

No sampling. Don't use it, won't miss it, have it on Kronos 'Classic'

No sequencing. Don't use it live - can add Logic w/ my Mac if I want it.

One Piano (4 gig) - Yamaha - better for live / band play.

76 key synth action.

MP-style pads.

Big, sensitive i-pad style interface -- or -- same as Kronos with fewer graphics & more info & bigger buttons.

If I had to add another engine to the nine, I would definitely want a brass and orchestral modeling engines. Looks like I should still trust Yamaha if we're talking acoustic here :)

+10000

Just bring something like WIVI for the Brass and Woodwinds and I'm fine :)

But I would also like the M1/T Series, 01W, Trinity and Triton Extreme to have main Korg keyboard of the last two decades in the Kronos.

Regarding Analog, I don't know, I think they probably just need to add the Mono/Poly, Trident and PS-3300...

Here you go, it's 9 additional new Synthesis... or 10 if you separate Woods, Brass and Reeds :)

I believe the Kronos II (in other words, the inevitable knockoffs of the base technology) is likely to be an SV-II.

My vote for what the SV-II would look like (a board I would be as likely to buy as the Kronos):

~ A smaller SSD with the pianos, as well as many of the EX's; the CX-3, Al-1 and EP engines onboard. Altogether more of a preset player unless you connect to a computer, but like the SV-1, lots of hands on control of fx, drive, etc.

~ No sampler or audio recorder, but a performance-oriented sequencer/looper (for creating play along loops on the fly and recording 1 pass sequences)

~ 88 note weighted action, plus an 80 note semi-weighted action: from low C to high G;

~ Pitchbend and mod wheels on top, making it shorter

~ Weight around 20 pounds for the semi-weighted, under 35 pounds for the weighted

~ TWO control pedal inputs!

~ Brackets to hold an optional music stand (like the Nord Stage)

~ 80 note version in US market: $2,000; 88 note version: $2,400

amen to everything.

Much of that already leaked from a fatigued Korg demo-e who let his defences down after 7 hours of demo.

He included the "computer" reference, and even the name sv2.

Only odd detail, the 80-keys keybed.

Did you make that out, or is somebody at Korg eating cheese late at night?

PS: nedim, message for you in the other thread. I repeat that more than once, Sharp bans me. BTW: useless without a 18" screen

Nedim - what are you playing at?

Two posts in two threads with pron links.

Not on. There are under 18s on this board - please remove the links before Sharp makes you remove them; and gives you a little 'off' time to consider your actions.

NOT impressive. There's places for that stuff - AND IT'S NOT HERE.
