this is a cheap way out.

take a "synth strings pad" program which emulates old string machines (look for patch names like "solina strings", "analogue strings" or the likes).

it will be based on a mix of pulse and saw waves. Good.

slightly close the filter (move slider A 1 or 2 millimeters)

add slow and wide vibrato [patch lfo to pitch].

All synth string pèatches will have this routing already included. You just gotta SLOW down the frequency of the LFO, deepen its WIDTH, and possibly set the LFO trigger to "note number" (so that the LFO is always on when you play, without fiddling with the joystick

the vibrato mustn't be heard like a "vibrato", but like a creepy detuning effect which gives the "cars - vox humana" patch its haunting tone.

layer, detune, transpose (3 parts transposed down 12, 1 part not transposed).

repeat until all 16 slots in a combi are used.

Even better, there is a multisound of the ARP Solina String Ensemble called StrEns-Slina stored in multisound number 411 (388 if you still have version 1.2 or less).

One of my favorite tunes from that time period. Always wanted a Polymoog, but never had enough cash at the time.

I thought I remembered seeing someone deconstructing the mix on youtube where you could just sample that one part. Looked around and while there are lot's of videos playing that part, I could not find it. However, I did come across this……

Sounds very good done with a JV80, so you should be able to nail it on the M3.
