(away from keyboard) I think if you select parametric EQ, each of the bands have an assignable parameter that could go to a knob as a Continuous Controller (CC). This would let you fine tune EQ within the effect program.
Generally speaking, the EFFECT BALANCE of ANY insert effect is also fully assignable; if you set the effect at 0/"Dry" you can then add the effect incrementally from +1% to +100%, or over a limited range -- i.e., reverb beginning at +10, with knob assigned to incrementally add +15 for at total possible effect balance range of 10-25%.

In many cases the knobs are already assigned -- be careful not to tie your EQ controls to reverb or filter accidentally.
