Atom processor inside Kronos...what the heck ??
Kronos is powered by an Atom processor. And Intel Core i7 demonstrates up to 40 times the processing performance of the Intel Atom. Think !!.An atom processor cost 20$ this days.So Don’t be a fool !.So is useless to trow you’re money for outdated technology like Kronos...Is obvious that Korg try to steal our money by offering nothing impressive just an outdated CPU !!!!.
Do u expect to built patches using up to 8 synth engines all at the same time USING KRONOS ??. Sweet dreams Kronos is not offering such power because is powered by Atom processor and not i7.i WOULD EXPECT TO FIND 2(TWO) i7 PROCESSORS INSIDE KRONOS FOR THAT PRICE. But is not . Is just a garbaged Atom processor.. End of story . At least with Motif u can have 8 elements per patch and many more filters...So i will go rebuy Motif XS with FW for just 1400$..
End of TOPIC !!!.

Did I fall asleep and wake to find nothing but Motif fanboyz on our Korg site?
Yamaha must really be afraid to send trolls here to try to convince people that their 12 year old synth competes.
HA HA

Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).

haha, very funny but what about the Atom processor...? just give one good reason and yes I've got some Yamaha hardware in my Studio, like Nekos, Oasys, Motif and some Minmoog's too, but my question is why Kronos is using an Atom processor inside Kronos in 2011..??, and is too late for you ...all the girls are sleeping now...go to bed Johnny..
The Atom processor is sufficient to run the Kronos. We're not splitting atoms with it. It also is more powerful than the workstation with upgrades would ever need.
But, I'll say it again. Whenever you want to compare Motif features to the Kronos (I mean, the M3 already killed the Motif), go nuts...

There might be several reasons to use an Atom instead of i7, few guesses:
-less power consuption, kronos is rated at 60w total, and with i7 in the box it would require more cooling(aka fans)
-Atom is more than enough to process all the data, think of Oasys, it has an P4 inside from 2005 and pentium 4:s are known for their heat production, Oasys is gigantic & with fan(s) inside and large ventilation holes on the sides. And basicly since the kronos is an next generation Oasys with the same soundengines inside korg knows that the new Atom processors have more than enough to run the OS and it's engines. and it has no ventilation holes what i can see (atleast no visible) and it has a fan but as far as i have understood it should be pretty silent.

Can you tell me what proccessor is inside Motif xf??macalister wrote:Kronos is powered by an Atom processor. KORG PA5X 76 + PaAS (MkI) - KORG PA1000 (NEW) - KORG NAUTILUS 73 (NEW) - KORG XE20SP (NEW) - KAWAI VPC1
How i have understood from the posts ive read all over the korgforums/KLforums etc that there is just the atom processor and no other dsp processors are inside the machineWorknMan wrote:Somebody on here said the atom just powers the OS/UI, where there's separate, dedicated DSP hardware to do all the heavy lifting.

I feel like I am in M*A*S*H episode:
Plenty of heavily accented Asians posing as americans (mchalister, no less!) And calling people "johnny" as if that meant "you dumb western guy"...
I'm no Korg cheerleader either, but this "invasion of the raving pods from planet yammi" (all registered after jan 13th) is
HILARIOUS!

If i7 was inside Kronos would end up being more expensive than OASYS was. And you can very much rest assured you can build combis utilizing ALL NINE engines Kronos offers, and it will work just fine, because that's the way it's made to work. Motif sucks for quite a while now, get over it.

Please, share some of those drugs you're on.

You obviously don't know anything about product design and technology requirements for a certain product. So, let me put it in one sentence for you so you can read and understand it.macalister wrote:Kronos is powered by an Atom processor. It's not about what kind of motherboard, cpu or chipset you use, it's about defining what platform (cpu, gpu, mbo, chipset) you need so your product can do what it needs to do at absolutely bare minimum in terms of cost with some calculated overhead (a bit more power then needed) so you have a safety margin and/or room for future expansions if you plan to do them.
It always was like that, it always will be. And that's actually absolutely ok.
One general statement: I find these "It's Atom, it could've been a i7/i5/wnatnot" statements to be hilarious. People think that - just because it's a well-known CPU - they should complain and bitch and moan. Really, dumb.
BTW, it's not end of discussion when you say so, this is kind of a "democratic" forum where topics end when either noone has anything to say about a certain subject or a owner/moderator locks it. Or eventually moves it to archives. It would be really nice of you to learn to respect those rules as they're there for everyone and they're quite ok. And, please, stop capsing. You're just plain annoying.

I think the wisest thing is to ignore 'macalister'.
I thought his reply here and in another thread sounded very familiar, and wouldn't you know it, on Motifator I found the things he posted here in the post of kday at the Motif forum, and the post on top of this thread is also posted on the Motif forum by 'mad robertinyo'.
On januari 17th the latter praised the XS and announced he was going to 'rebuy' it, on the 19th he called it a fake synth, and he indulges in a fake conversation with his alter ego, kday.
He's just a troll in other words, seeking to aggravate and insult people and companies.
