its not a few bucks bro..M3 61 is $1899 and KRONOS 61 is $3000...M3 88 in 2699 now...and luk at the price of kronos 88...and may be if i get some shop in Chennai where kronos is sold for $3000 itself i'm goin for the 61 key version...but the price goes to around 160% due to import duties...do u hav ne idea where i can get korg products without duty??

I'm not sure...i saw in chennai customs website that it is 61.2%...but i think that was for passengers returning from foreign countries...if i get Kronos for jus 10% more than $3000 i'll happily go for it!!

prashanth_estra wrote:lol thats gr8...there are shops here in Chennai that sell the m3 for a gud price..a little above the price quoted in KorgUSA website..so getting an m3 here will not be a problem...and i'm interested in the M3-88...i dont think i can afford the kronos 88 atleast for now..coz its price will be increased to around 160% of the original when it is imported here :(
gurn wrote:Prasanth, early this year would be a really good time to buy an M3m.

I bought mine for $1099 (new) in late September. I think you can get them
for that or less if you shop EBay.

The closer KRONOS is - the cheaper the M3 will be.
And I LOVE my M3m!

BTW, I used an old beat-up hardshell case that is fifteen years old,
to transport my M3m from the States. Customs saw the beat-up old
case and didn't even notice there was a brand new M3m inside it.

heh heh... I used to carry a Kawai K1 around in that case fifteen years ago.
and i jus wanted to know if all the M3s that are currently being sold are the xpanded ones with OS 2.0 already installed in them..someone please let me know...
Yeah. I think all of them sold new in the US are XPanded.

But...that's not a big deal. There is still insufficient RAM on the M3.
So even with the XPanded, you need the USB expansion drive inserted.

The 256 meg costs extra. And 256 meg isn't much.

But...that doesn't matter to me. I don't need high-quality pianos or clarinets.

I love these pads though. The M3 has them. KRONOS doesn't.

Even if i have the USB expansion drive inserted, i do need the expansion RAM to have more than one library loaded, right?
anyway, i think i will need the extra RAM as i'll be sampling many sounds from the Roland SPD-20 and some from my computer DAW for live performances..

GOTTA HAVE THE KRONOS - It's not about the architecture, it's about the sounds. Kronos has it all

Price-wise, I'm going to let my M3-61 go for $1600, including shipping if needed. Preference going to someone near me in Clearwater, FL.

It is in pristine condition, and has the:

Latest OS upgrade (V2.04)
EXB-M256
EXB-RADIAS (V2.0)
EXB-FW
Internal SD card upgrade

The four EXB banks are set up as being auto-loaded:

EXPCM01 – Brass and woodwinds 1
EXPCM02 – Brass and Woodwinds 2
EXPCM03 – Stereo Grand Piano
EXPCM04 – V1 Stereo Piano

I really want the Kronos, so I will also dump my Yamaha Motif XS-61 too, for the same price. It's the only way we retired folks can make the upgrade, money-wise. I've had the Motif in the soft case anyway, and have had the M3 out on the stand with a soft cloth cover.

I just sold my 88 on Ebay and now I have to be without a keyboard for a few months. But its tax season anyway so i would not have much time to play until 4-15. What sold me was the better sounds, especially the grand piano, and all the different engines. I feel that the Kronos should keep me happy for at least 5 years. The M3 was great, but Kronos will be amazing.
