X5D VERY strange problem

Post by UCanDream »

Hey guys and gals.

I know this is not precisely the right section to ask this question (though, I did post it in the "Other Synths" as well) but I am up against a wall here for an answer. Sorry in advance.

Any ideas about this:

I picked up an X5D on eBay and the seller said 5 notes were not playing. Well, as it is, only 2 notes are not playing but ALL of the "B" notes are very flat! In fact, they are far closer to "B flat" than they are to "C." Is this issue beyond the scope of an end user fix? I'd really appreciate any ideas.

Cheers.

I don't know if the X5D has this functionality but you might want to check that the 'user scale' has not been modified. Perhaps do a factory reset.

Because it is not analog in any way, it would be nigh on impossible for a tuning problem to occur with specific notes. If you said each 'B' key (or any other pattern across the whole keyboard) was not working then I'd say it was a keyboard scanning diode matrix or ribbon cable problem.

X-Trade, dude, thank you! That is exactly what it was. Now, I just got the 2 dead notes --possibly dirty contacts....though, I can see them just fine without contacts- lol, okay now, that was stupid! Hehehe. I actually had a third dead note that just started playing again.... wait, just tried B flat below middle C (it was one of the naughty notes) and I played it about 100 times and got sound out ot it! A few more strikes and it was almost playing like normal. Contacts for sure, I'd say. Also, they all sound via MIDI so I know the Engine is good.

Anywho...thanks a million man. I genuinely appreciate it when someone stops what they are doing to even bother with answering another guys request for help. Very cool indeed.

Cheers to ya.

Hello David,

on Korgy Park "http://www.blosphere.net/~janne/korgypark.html" you can download thousands of extra patches.
There is a forum too where you can find additional help.

Regards,
Michael
