Another "Need B3 Sounds" Thread
Did a search on this one, so am not just posting impulsively. Am on a gig where my bottom keyboard is a Triton Pro X 88. Need it for basically two things: Strings and Organ (Basic Rock B-3 with Leslie on/off). The Strings we're using are okay. The B-3 sounds like a baseball game (da-da-da-da-da-da----CHARGE) or a merry-go-round. Anyone got any suggestions. I note this Legacy 1 download on this site which people have talked about. Any other suggestions? I am willing to purchase a good soundset. Checked Pro-Rec and Kid Nepro. Not hearing anything that knocks my socks off. Thanks!
Is your problem with the Organ sounds themselves or the Leslie/Rotary speaker simulation?
The rotary speaker is an effect and is seperate from the actual samples - which I believe are actually take from KORG's CX3, supposedly a popular Hammond clone.
The rotary speaker effect is actually quite flexible and you may be able to achieve some better sounds by changing its parameters.

X-Trade is right. i have gain better sounding B3 patches by tweeking the parameters. you can
with the assignable-B knobs control the leslie's speed and do much-much more!!! however, it
does take a little programming which doesn't look like it's something you're into doing yourself
programming sounds can be tedious, so i understand..an alternative workaround would be to
buy a leslie effect pedal for convincing B3 organ sounds, when not in use you simply bypass the
pedal and go back to playing your triton...an easy fix.

Actually you can route your organ sounds to the external leslie pedal from one of the individual outputs so the pedal can stay on forever and the organ sounds which go out from the indiv.out will be affected with leslie and other sounds that go out from L/R outputs will stay uneffected

Both great ideas. Both not practical for this situation. I can only use the main 2-mix. So again, I really need a sound already programmed for Leslie on/off with the joystic, and which hopefully sounds a little more gritty and a little less "merry-go-round" than the one I've got. Again, will be willing to buy a soundbank just for this one sound if it's the right sound. Or what about this "Legacy 1" download in the download section of this forum? Thanks!
i agree. overdrive helps a great deal, i think i use overdrive and a little bit of wah (not too much)
in one of my B3 programs..also "sampling" is good way to go about getting that hammond sound
here's a link for hammond B3 sample CD:

@Synastikki - yup. assignable outputs is a better idea as it frees up the mains.

Hey guys - I figured out the problem. The previous player had been using Combis - like 2 or 3 B-3s layered on on the other - yuk. So I went to program mode and found a few quite nice sounds that will work just fine. So I need to make them in to Combis because my other sounds are in Combi mode and I don't want to switch back and forth. So as elementary as this question is - how do I initialize a Combi, then copy a Program to it, with its effects intact? I only need one program in the Combi, so I don't need to worry about multiple sounds feeding through the same effects. I just need the same exact effects as if it was in Program mode for the one voice. Thanks in advance!

There really isn't a way to initialize a combi, but for your other questions just put all other timbres OFF except the first one (which will obviously have to be INT). Choose the desired organ program on this timbre. Go to the IFX page. Click the arrow in the upper right corner of the screen and click copy effects from program. In the pop-up window choose the same program you chose for the combi and choose copy ALL. Check that timbre 1 is routed to the right effects. Copy the MFX section the same way. And you're set!
BTW one way to get a initialized combi is to find one on some download.
