Stuck record re. Logic and Legacy cell....?

Post by sammysenior »

It sounds like I'm the 9 millionth person to post about this but I don't know what else to do...

I have a Macbook Pro running Mac OS X 10.6.4
Legacy cell analogue edition v 1.2 (Host: 1.2.2, Core 1.2.1)
Logic Pro 9.1.1

You know the score, I can see the legacy cell in the audio units manager but it won't let me use them. I know this must be incredibly annoying for all concerned but please help...

also, when I go into HD>Library>Audio>Plugins>Components, there's nothing in the folder... However, there are files in the VST folder but they're all either .fxb or .cmap files. How do i get the .component files that everyone seems to be talking about?

Sounds like you're opening Logic in 64 bit mode rather than 32 bit.

Korg Legacy instruments are still 32 bit.

If you're in 64 bit mode they won't be accessible to you even though they show up in the Audio Units Manager.

Go to your Applications folder and to click on the Logic app icon, then choose 'Get info' from the File menu or the keyboard shortcut command-I. There's a button on the info window that let's you choose 32 bit mode.

Still, the Legacy AUs should be in your Components folder, unless they're in User/Library/Audio/Plugins/Components.

The .fxb and .cmap are presets and MIDI CCs maps.

the 'run in 32 bit' box is already ticked... I've tried re installing the korg software but it's just not doing anything... this is so annoying. Any other suggestions...?

I have pretty much the same specs that you have - Logic 9.1.1 and OSX 10.6.4 - and have no problems running Legacy AE within Logic.

You mentioned that the Legacy AUs aren't in your Components folder. If you've correctly installed Legacy AE then you ought to have the Audio Units versions in your Components folder and VST versions in your VST folder. The installer automatically installs them in their correct folders - unless you specify that you want them installed somewhere else, but I can't remember if the installer actually gives you that option.

Are you able to use the standalone versions?

When I installed Legacy AE it created a folder in my Applications folder called KORG Legacy, which contained the standalone instruments a Documents folder and a Presets folder, which contains the .fxb files (the presets) and .cmap files (MIDI CC files). This folder or the files it contains should not be your VST folder. So I'm not sure what has happened with your installation process.

Possibly your installer has been corrupted?

The only thing I can think of is that maybe you've installed the Windows version of Legacy AE rather than the Mac version. But then again, I not even sure that this is possible.

I can use the standalone versions, and (hopefully) the installer can't be corrupted because I download it fresh from the Korg website every time I install it. Do I need to buy the 1.2 upgrade that everyone's talking about...?
