Problem: missing notes

Post by MisterMoon »

When playing in combi mode, the M3 is sometimes missing notes on the lead I'm playing.
Has anyone had this problem on their M3?

Feedback much appreciated !

What's the name/number of the combi setup where this happens?

This happens with several combi's. Strange thing is that I didn't had this problem until a couple of months ago. Also, I have the problem using the M3 standalone, so without any midi gear or usb devices connected. Also on combi's that doesn't use samples in the extended RAM memory...

Maybe the cable that connects the keybed (keys) to the M3 module is not well inserted.
Sometimes shipping/transport get that cable off.
Try to insert it again

I agree. This does sound like it could be something mechanical or physical in nature. Nothing happened with your machine over the past while that might have interfered with general physical workings, no liquids spilt, no falls, anything like that?

That was indeed my first thought too, but the cable is well inserted. The dropped note happens not too frequently: once every 2 to 3 songs I play.

Something else is going wrong here..

Check the cable integrity.
When I first open the M3 to insert the EXB-256M expansion, I didn't put the cable inside as it was , so the cable was stuck between keybed and the metal cover.
maybe you did the same mistake, and the cable is broken.
try to use the same combi, with an external midi controller.

Did the test with an external keyboard: no dropped notes so far.
Dis the test without an external keyboard after replugging the cable: no dropped notes so far.

Might have been a problem with the cable. Ik keep listening for dropped notes though...
