MIDI files questions on the KTE

Post by cjp_24 »

Hi all, I have a question, well 2 to be exact. If anyone could help me. Ok here goes.

I have a MIDI file on my PC. I can edit it on there, take out certain tracks and leave only a drum track and a few harmony track.

I can then upload to my the KTE and play it (using SEQ.PLAY), that is all Ok. What I want to do is when the midi file is on my KTE I want to change a few of the instruments on a few of the tracks and then save it. I can change the instruments without any problems but when I press LOCATE (that sets the CLOCK back to 0:00:00) all the default stuff gets loaded back. It is like at location 0:00:00 all the original MIDI data is stored and then gets read again.. So how can I do this? Do I need to copy this MIDI file into a song location? if so how do I do this?

also...

I want to take that same MIDI file and play along with it. If my MIDI file is using tracks 1,2,3 & 4, I want to be able to set it so it plays but when I press the keys on the keyboard make the sound from the keyboard only play the instruments assigned on the other tracks 5,6,7 or 8 that I have defined and not sound the instruments on the tracks that the midi is using. I hope I am making this clear. ish :)

Please help.

KTE headaches

Post by johnwalker »

Hi Cliff,

Program info. (Voice Number) is usually embedded into the track data. Can you alter this on your PC before you transfer to the KTE (Select 'properties' on the MIDI file track and select appropriate program number).

I had a similar problem recently and found that the KTE MIDI was diss-enabled.

Much the same can be said with your second problem. Check MIDI track parameters and routing.

We'll have to spend a day together with the KTE mate !!
