Karma, M50 and SCENES

Post by johnnydj »

If anyone uses Karma M50, please have a look at this :D

Hello there. As I'm waiting for my M50 to arrive, I was watching the korg oasys karma demo's on the website.
I'm thinking of buying Karma for the M50, but my question is:
Is it possible to have a Scene mode just like in the Scene Matrix / Seq mode demonstration on the M3 or the Oasys?
I want to be able to mix samples, add fills, variations and stuff live, using a mini laptop + the M50, cause I really don't want to buy a groove box or sampler.

Everything else is correct besides the Samples part, or if you meant using
samples on a computer software.

doh.
my m50 arrived yesterday.
I've been doing stuff left and right with it, but it seems very hard to compose beats with accompaniaments or however you spell it.
And being able to undo a recording only once, is kind of bad.

I'm thinking of creating the beats and backsounds in a computer software which has a piano roll editor.
I tried it, but all the drum kits need to be exported with +1 octave seems like...
I kind of miss my PA50 which I just turned on, and played any song within a few clicks :D
oh well...
btw... what the heck is wrong with the M50 grand piano sound?
in all the videos, the sound is awesome, but on my M50 the piano sound is a bit muffled :(

If you purchased the M50 as an upgrade for the PA50 you made a bad choice. The M50 is in a completely different class than the PA50. You will never find the same easy of create beats and accompaniments with intros and ends like on an arranger. A Workstation is a sound and music creation tool, not a one-man-band kind of keyboard.

The Piano sound on the M50 sounds muffled because you haven't applied any effect to it. Create a combi, put them in and tweak the effects, maybe some reverb, layer a slight strings track in, tweak the EQ for more loudness, etc. Posibilities are endless.

Check Rick Formidoni videos in Youtube for more information. Also check here: korgfans.ning.com, almost all tutorial videos from RF have been gathered there.
