Free Energy.

It's already possible now to live a completely modern lifestyle with your own solar cells and energy efficient living. The biggest limitation is the upfront capital requirements to buy the cells, install them, and the inverter, which doesn't pay for itself very quickly vs. current electric rates from hydro, coal, nuclear and natural gas generation sources. If you combine household energy needs to transportation fuel needs by charging an all-electric car at home, then the payback comes faster, except that you can't find reasonably priced electric cars manufactured with the same engineering and features as economy gas/diesel cars. Electric cars should be significantly cheaper to produce than similar gasoline cars, without using exotic/expensive batteries.
And on that note check this out.

Fuel cells running on natural gas might be clean and energy efficient vs. turbines, but they will depend on non-renewable natural gas or other fossil fuels. That part about "running them on solar" was complete BS. Solar doesn't produce fuel efficiently, particularly hydrogen by electrolysis. Solar would eliminate the need for fuel cells for home power. Fuel cells have much more promise for vehicles, where energy storage in the form of fuel is needed for range and power. An $800,000 fuel cell subsidized by the government by 50% is a huge waste of taxpayer funds vs. powering 40 homes with a 50% subsidy for $20,000 solar systems and efficient appliances. If there was a 50% subsidy I would order at least one solar system this week. Hell, I would do it if they merely offered a 10 year interest free loan, paid off via a monthly utility bill. I already use less power than anybody I know.Sharp wrote:And on that note check this out.

I agree. It looks like a great technology - a much more efficient method of extracting power from fuels, but that's exactly it - it needs some kind of fuel. And yeah, so do some other tech solutions, but its far from the massive theoretical output from fusion for example.
All its doing is processing a fuel without actually burning it.

Yep, I think right now it's main attraction will be it is simply a far cheaper way to produce energy. Likely something to be of more interest to companies, or if power stations buy them and instal them in sub stations.Fuel cells running on natural gas might be clean and energy efficient vs. turbines, but they will depend on non-renewable natural gas or other fossil fuels.
Might just be me, but I felt the video was edited right at that point after he gave only part of an answer. It just seemed to cut him off in order to keep the positive trend of the video going in one direction. That part about "running them on solar" was complete BS.
Ultimately I think the Bloom Box is more of a item Power Stations might buy to increase output by 50% and at no cost whatsoever other than the purchase of the Bloom Box devices.
lol.... looks like a busy week next week. Bloom Box goes public Wednesday and Steorn are also out of time, they have to produce the goods on the Orbo Monday.

Yep... Bloom Box is not free energy, it seem to be purely a means to produce it 50% more efficiently and also reduce the power station to the size of a cabinet you could have in your home if you wanted.X-Trade wrote:I agree. If he can drop the price to 3 to 5k for a Home unit, he would never be able to keep up with demand also. The return on this would put solar or wind to shame.

And so it continues......
Steorn have developed a Solid State Orbo and the SKDB opens today.
Plus the third party Calorimetric Tests are in.

No... name of who did the tests though
, no sign off, no nothing to say it wasn't Steorn who just typed this up themselves.

I rekon a setup to run your house comes in @ 5k approx.
So with our electric bill thats about 7 odd years to pay for itself - at Caan/Ascot prices.
If they come down over the nest year or 2 - I will certainly be aquiring this tech - as NI Grid prices are the highest in Eire/UK.
Peace

Yes, they are still going strong. I didn't read all the details of the latest announcement but they have released some electronics kit to allow people examine the orbo effect away from Steorn, their labs and their control.anything from Steorn and co. of late..?
So that's rather interesting.
I really think these guys got what they say they have, but the more I think about it then the more I think about that..... well... If they have free energy then they need to flood the internet with all the plans to build these devices. Our existence as a species depends on removing the demand for energy.
Oil disasters like we just saw are just an example of Man's greed for profit. If Steorn have free energy, well then that's just another example of Man's greed then as they are looking for profit in all this.
They should release it for free under a non-profit licence, then when people start powering their homes they could ask for donations for their invention. You can bet everyone on the planet would send them a few bucks and make them billionaires.
Thanks for the links, I look forward to checking them out.

Sharp.
Just got this email....

Steorn is pleased to announce the launch of the Orbo Evaluation and Development System, the next step in the roll-out of Orbo technology.
For more information please visit http://www.steorn.com/skdb/oedu
As there has already been a considerable level of demand for Evaluation Units and supply is initially limited we are implementing a process to ensure that those who receive the first Units have the necessary equipment and experience to best evaluate, validate and report on the technology. If you would like to be considered at this stage, please complete the form provided.
We would like to thank you for your continued interest in Steorn and Orbo technology.
Best regards,
The Steorn Team

A final Steorn update, the only surprise being that they lasted this long... Steorn laid off all staff, sold their premises and liquidated the company just before Christmas (Nov' 2016).
Soaked up €23 million over a ten year period.

There is no free energy.
Finally. I am sorry for everyone who spent money on "Free" energy.Timo wrote:A final Steorn update, the only surprise being that they lasted this long... Steorn laid off all staff, sold their premises and liquidated the company just before Christmas (Nov' 2016).
