Microkontrol Frozen!

Post by astrovision »

My controller is frozen. The main display is stuck on "HALion" and none of the pads work. Cannot initiate "panic" or anything else. The sliders register changes but not the knobs, tempo led, or value dial. When I use it in my Acid Pro the notes will play but only about 8 or so keys in the middle of the keyboard.

Is there anyway other way to reset the thing? Btw I'm not up on midi. I just plug the little guy in to play some of my synths but I haven't ever got into assigning or anything.

thanks guys,

ps it might have had a little tumble recently. I've noticed the joystick piece is busted so do you think that might be my issue...that it's just busted?

Any suggestions...Anybody?

Is there a way to do "reset all" without hitting "message" and pad 1, since my pads aren't working.

Do you think the unit's just busted and I should give up. Or am i an idiot and missing something. Call me an idiot, I don't care, i'd really just like to figure this out.

thanks,

It sounds like there may be a problem with the unit on a hardware level. Out of curiosity (since I don't believe you addressed it), have you tried cycling the power or loading different scenes in via the Editor Librarian? Are you powering via USB or adapter?

Thanks a lot MonoPolyMan. I am connected usb, but have also tried with the adapter. Don't know what you mean by "cycling the power" but I did manage to change the scene with the librarian. Which was a good step. Turns out "HALion" that it was locked on was probably a scene for the Halion synth.

But now that I've reset the to the default scene. The problem still persists so I think you might be right that it's hardware.

I've noticed, too, that my usb connetion on the keyboard is quite loose and wonder if it's that. I might try to purchase a midi to usb to test it.

Thanks for helping me to, at least, change something.

I'm having the same problem to! mine was stuck to Cubase, buttons won't work, none of them, only the sliders, but the knobs don't register anything, none of the leds work right, the leds on the buttons or pads never turn on and the ones on the displays blink from time to time, I've used usb and ac connection, and it stays the same, my computer detects the keyboard perfectly and I also updated the driver with no problems, but I also tried to update the firmware of the keyboard with no success, I can't manage to access the "update mode" (when you press the setting, message, exit and > and then turn on), it starts as always with the Cubase scene selected, Librarian did detect the keyboard and I successfully deleted all the scenes and set up new LIVE templates but that's about it, anyone that can help me out here? please

I have the exact same problem. And I have had it for a long time. So long its embarrassing. I decided it was time to deal with it and ended up here. I havel also posted a tech enquiry to Korg and hoping to get an answer.

Did you ever solve it?

I hope so. If yes, please let me know.

Mine is completely stuck on Cubase. Also if I use it with live it will activate octave shift button as soon as I start playing a synth and there´s nothing I can do about it.

Ghost in the machine.

I cannot reset it either as there´s no instructions on how.

Would appreciate all help here.
Thanks

this is the response I got from a KORG representative to my problem:

At that point I’d recommend bringing it to a Korg USA Authorized Service Center for repair. It sounds like there is a hardware problem with the keyboard itself, rather than just being firmware related. To find the nearest location, please navigate to www.korg.com/support.aspx. If you have any further questions or concerns regarding the service process, please contact our Customer Service department at 631-390-6800. If I can be of any operational assistance in the future, please don’t hesitate.

Best regards,

i must say that video is shure funny. it´s just the same thing going on with mine. It made me laugh that I have probably allready spent 2 days in total fiddling about. How tragic. Korg need to sort this out.

:-) did that astro man find out what was his issue?
