Paid New Zero Line 64 bit Drivers and Software Interface

Post by djcl.ear »

Remember that even if the available 32 bit driver is actually made to work in 64 bit environments, it doesn't mean it will be able to take full advantage of what 64 bit CPU processors allow for. It may work, yes, but at the same time leaves room for a future upgrade that would theoretically improve Zero's operation...

...Uhmm... Could Zero8's smoother run (Firewire connected) improve things and lower the excessive heat this machine generates when is operating at recommended levels? If this is the case; would it, -as a secondary effect- diminish the electron leakage and audible distortions that electronic components typically produce when working at high temperatures?? This alone may have an effect on Zero8's signal to noise figures...

Latency wise, new recent PCrelated developments like better CPU's architectures, fast and low latency' SDRAMs, SSDs and soon-to-be SATA 6.0, or Firewire 800, are going to reduce latency to a new level, at many stages...
Which will call for, guess what??...
Easy; customer need for controlling live -hands-on, DJ style (EQ isolators, effects xchannel, mixer layout,etc.)-, the sound output from several sources/controllers all simultaneously connected feeding to & from a PC/laptop.
This is a task that -I believe- could not be better done than with a full working Zero8, at least the way the Digital Mixer was designed to work in the drawing board, probably in Audio/MIDI mode configuration.
So despite KORG supports (or not) full 64 bit Zero's, chooses to release a revamped kind-of Zero8 digital mixer, or does nothing... Some other manufacturer will produce such a device sooner than later.

I sense some Zero users would -even- pay for new drivers (count me in), quite more if its the case that the new drivers and GUI software actually improve Zero8's functioning.
At any case, continuing KORG support (even with discontinued product) will be well received by existing & potential KORG customers.

Furthermore, it would look stupid if KORG doesn't take advantage of the technology, the $ and the user experience they have invested and gathered these years, and then someone else's clone comes out and steals the show at some better timing...

We can get the money to pay for the drivers from a class action lawsuit against KORG.

Yep, Sounds good to me.
