Need help: xy Pad on KP3 is only moving in X position...

Post by Inofaith »

Hi (I'm inofaith btw)

recently my kaoss pad 3's touchpad got wonky on me.
When I touch it, the active LED goes to the bottom
and I can only move it in a horizontal way.. the Y axis is completely locked....

I need this thing for my beatbox performances and as controller for my live dj show...
so if someone has any suggestions... please help.

Or else I wont be able to do this act live anymore, and I've got 2 bookings.

Have you tried to update the operating system of the KP3?
In some situations that can help putting it back to "normal".

That was the first thing that came to my mind, and it could be that simple if it's not broken, though.
Poly Evolver keyboard, KORG Radias. KURZWEIL K2600S, NORD-MODULAR, KORG D3200, DOEPFER MAQ 16/3 and a bunch of pedals...It's all gone, so now I'm starting over, but with virtual synths.

Soundconstruction going on...

I updated it to 2.0 a fair while ago.. I don't think its that.

I recently took it apart to bet some CAIG DEOX in the input pot knob...

Was very carefull in the procedure, and it has worked some while later, but now the xy pad just gos to the bottom upon touch.

does that sound hardware or software related?

sounds like a hardware problem. if you're comfortable opening it back up i think the screen connects to the logic board via a small cable (4 connections). maybe it's come loose? otherwise your sceen is probably screwed and probably nobody can help that. although one guy with a broken screen was able to order a replacement and we're waiting to hear back if he's able to get it working again.

No but the screen works partially... thats the weird thing.

so it does sense touch... and it moves left and right... but not up.. the "cursor" led stays at the bottom.

right. it sounds like possibly the one of the 4 connections is loose. i'd guess those connections are x, y, touch and ground. it sounds like the y connection may be loose, and if not, your screen is probably broken.

of course, i don't know anything about it. contact korg support wherever you live, they're much better poised to help you than anybody here.
