The Who's keyboard sounds

Post by bpm938 »

Does anybody know somewhat how to design the arp-sounding stuff the Who did on a bunch of their stuff, particularly on Baba O'Riley and Eminence Front?

I'm trying to put it together on a Triton extreme but I imagine that the concepts carry over pretty easily between different keyboards.

I have them using the Radias, can send you the screen pic from the editor if you like. A good friend of mine actually sets up the kybds for The Who and on the '06/07 tour sat in for Rabbit.

Yeah any pics would be great. I watched a DVD where Towshend explained a little bit what he was doing and that helped me figure some things out but I still have more work to do on it. I like things to sound as close to the original as possible.

remember that what you hear when they play live is a click track of Pete's original - triggered by Zack. Everytime you see Roger play with his earpiece he is listening to the click track. Same goes for WAY and WGFA although the last few years Rabbit has been playing most of the kybd parts live on WAY. Other than 2 B3's Rabbit is using Kurzweil kybds for piano, string and synth parts.
