Cleaning/keeping ur m3 in good condition....

Post by Heated »

Anyone have tips for cleaning the m3? I've usually kept mine covered by a plastic bag at night but i've noticed that if i scrub, black gunk will come off of pretty much every part of it. SO.. any tips on how to clean all the sliders, keys, and TOUCH SCREEN? Thanks folks.
IF ANYONE WANTS TO TRADE(legal) samples PLEASE PM me and we'll F.T.P.

I occassionally clean my m3 using a Microfiber Cleaning Cloth + some PC cleaning fluid for the keyboard + LCD cleaning fluid for the display.

Further tips:
  • - Never spray cleaning fluids directly onto the keyboard or M3 module. Always spray the cleaner onto a cloth then wipe!
    - The cleaner you keep your work space, the cleaner your equipment will be!
    - For better XY-Fun, I put a (removeable) protective foil on the display, works w/o limitation and I don't have to care about scratches even when using scratch sounds

I was interested in a touch screen protector when I purchased the M3 a couple years ago. I couldn't find one specifically made for the M3. I contacted a company called PosR and they made a custom one for me and now have it listed as one of their products.

http://www.posr.us/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=704

It attaches by adhesive around the edges and you can tell there is a protector on the screen. However, it's pretty transparent, feels fine and doesn't seem to affect the use of the touch screen in any way.

My only concern is if it would damage the touch screen when removing it. Since I haven't removed it I don't know. That would pretty much defeat its purpose and I'm sure the company has taken that into consideration.

I'm not a sales person for them. I just thought I'd pass this info on. I was grateful for them helping me out.

EDIT:
After reading the description, perhaps they have modified it slightly from the one I have as they mention it does not use adhesive?

Yea, this looks good.
PosR.us films are only 0.005" thin and yet are stiff enough to stay flat on the screen without warping during use.
Topside of film has a highly scratch resistant treatment with a smooth, pleasant writing surface.
Long lasting protection against dust, scratches and gouges.
Abrasion and chemical resistant to protect the LCD screen.
Highly transparent film provides added screen contrast and brilliant colors.
Back of film is scratch resistant and has a patented anti-Newton ring treatment to prevent adhesion and distortion.
Provides easy installation and uses no adhesive that can cause bubbles and leave residue when removed.

Installs easily in seconds, can be removed, cleaned and reinstalled for continued use.
Filters out 99% of UV light from reaching your screen or reflecting to your eyes.
I'm not worried about the touch screen, but for someone that is, this looks like the perfect accessory. Thanks for the heads up!

I am more concerned about my buttons fading and will need to probably get some replacements. I don't like the idea that they look slightly different than the originals and have been putting this off for that reason.
