Nanopad unplayable but probably my fault, please help

Post by wosik_1 »

Evening all.

Hopefully you can help me. I'm having trouble with the nanopad in that pads seem to stick.

When I'm tapping out a beat they just aren't responsive enough and I tried playing a synth with it and the sound kept going, as if I was holding the pad down.

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm hoping I may just have the release set incorrectly and can fix this in the control software?

Thanks in advance

exact same problem here, and i've read about other people having this problem. i don't think it's your fault, as i've did everything imaginable to fix it (with/without hub, mac/win, editing the pads in the editor), and i keep having sustained notes on some pads and other pads not responding at all.

it's the same in all scenes, so it looks as if it has to do with the pads themselves. i think there's something wrong with sending note offs.

anybody any idea what this could be?

Same problem here, friends. The worst thing is that I bought it used from some guy, and he keep saying there was nothing wrong whit it when he was working with it. :x

Please, if you or anybody find a cure, tell me.

BTW, is it possible to update or reinstall the unit's firmware ?

Have any of you tried contacting KORG about this issue?

This is a user-run forum and KORG doesn't maintain a big presence here. Most hardware-type issues are often better solved by KORG themselves.

The nano series seem to be quite simple hardware devices, and they're relatively new, so there aren't any software or firmware updates. to be honest it sounds more like a mechanical problem.

I sent them a message late yesterday. Hopefully they have a suggestion.

So far though, I'd have to say the Guitar Hero drums have a better setup application than the nanoPAD. That's just sad.

Also, while I appreciate not having outdated media included, the installation links are really not user friendly. The installs themselves are also not written well.

I get that this is an inexpensive product. Yet, as my first impression of Korg, not so good.

p.s. Don't get hung up on the GH comment. My company owns several tens of thousands worth of pro audio gear. Not exactly a n00b here.

Exact same problem here, only difference with mine is that only 2 out of the 12 pads works 100% of the time, the others respond around once every 3-6 taps, rendering the whole thing pretty much useless.

I'm not totally sure but I'd agree it's a mechanical problem cause if I pinch a non-responsive pad upward a bit and hold it, while tapping with my other hand, it works every time, as if the pads are constantly resting on the switch beneath.

I got the set and the other 2 works just fine, but the pad is my fav so hope there's a fix to this.

I called support (631) 390-8737. They transfered me to warranty. Asked me to email (or fax) copy of receipt, and standard stuff like name/address/phone/serial number and brief explanation of issue.

Apparently there are some issues with these early models. Also, black is on backorder for a few more days.

Here's hoping my replacement works :)
