Integrating the power of a Pa2XPro with the OASYS

Post by Tapas »

Imagine this!

Let’s say Korg comes out with a next generation Arranger that has the pristine sparkling audio engine of the OASYS with the power of KARMA Technology.

Imagine being able to trigger a full orchestral backing with your left hand chords while you play impossible riffs with your right hand assisted by Karma with all the sounds being generated by the full OASYS engine.

This is like having an Auto Arranger that also plays Auto Leads. It is not humanly possible to play Harp Glissandos on a keyboard in the same manner that Karma does it for you.

This will be the ultimate arranger. It has no parallel, and it will instantly blow away the competition to oblivion.

Can such a monster be created? All the necessary ingredients are already in place. All that is necessary is for Korg and Stephen Kay to decide on the specs on a future product that would merge the power of the OASYS with the realistic styles of the Pa2XPro.

Such an instrument can be designed at a much lower price point than what it would cost the end user to buy both. It would have the added advantage of portability and usability having all the functions integrated into one unit with a unified user interface.

At the moment one has to MIDI the Pa2XPro with either an M3M rack module or another OASYS.

I am using a Pa2XPro with an OASYS76 mounted on an On-Stage KS7365-EJ double tier Z-Stand. Every time I sit to play, I feel like I am in heaven! I cannot praise the Korg R&D team enough for designing these musical marvels. Here is a picture of my setup.

Thanks to Frank Ventresca for making me a killer deal on the Korg Pa2XPro. If you want to get a Korg Pa2XPro/Pa800/Pa500, call up Frank at (203) 876-1133

I had the pleasure of meeting Frank at the NAMM show this year. He is a terrific guy and an all around gentleman. He would make you a deal you cannot refuse. Frank is the President of AudioWorks in Connecticut and an authorized Korg Dealer.

And as you know from the other thread I am writing, I have an M3-88 integrated with my Pa2x. The Pa2x sits directly on top of the M3's 88 note keybed, and the M3M module is separate, on a stand just above and to the left of the Pa2x screen. I use the 88-note keybed for everything apart from occasional solo leads played on the Pa2x.

Asena, I am glad to know that you found the hidden potential of using KARMA with a Pa2XPro. That is the next logical step in the evolution of Arranger Workstations.

Rob, I have ardently been following your posts. Please keep us updated on your project. Perhaps Korg would read our posts and findings and come up with a design the fuses the best of OASYS/Karma with the Pa2XPro.

Best regards,

Tapas
