NanoPAD (black) stuck notes, strange triggering...

Post by Houdini »

Hi forum, can anyone shed some light on this?

Essentially the nanoPAD (black) recently started to do some strange things with Digital Performer and Battery, etc.

Notes are sticking, certain pads are triggering wrong notes, the roll function triggers several notes simultaneously. Computer is MAC OSX 10.5.

I did some further testing of the nano pad with a softsynth (absynth) to get a better idea of what is going on. It seems to be a stuck notes type of issue, with perhaps note off messages not being sent or slipping into hold mode instead of the programmed momentary mode. I have the pads from 7-12 and then 1-6 going from C up to B, and the behavior is as follows:

Pad 7 - sticks and sometimes triggers F instead of C
8 - normal
9 - sticks
10 - doesn't trigger, but causes F to stick
11 - sticks, and pad 10 turns it off
12 - triggers B instead of F
1 - intermittent sticking
2 - normal
3 - intermittent
4 - sticks
5 - sticks
6 - triggers F instead of B

Perhaps you'd be able to make some sense out of this. There seems to be some correspondence between the rows, for example both 2 and 8 or okay, 12 and 6 mixing up the notes F and B etc..

Thanks everyone for your time and advice.

Just started my own thread on this issue.

I've experienced the stuck note issue a few times, but pads 9 and 10 are highly intermittent on my nanpPAD.

I know these things are cheap, but to have them not even last 6 months is really pathetic on Korg's part.

Same problem

I had this same problem on two different nanoPADs. The first, pad 7 wasn't very responsive so the retailer sent me a replacement. Now on the replacement Pad 11 only works once after playing pad 10 and then quits.

I had the black version, and only the XY pad was working. I then exchanged straight across and my second one had this issue. Not only random keys, but also channels. The driver has a lot to do with it, but because of the first unit I received, I believe that the pads (at least the newer black ones) are defective in different ways. It's like there is a short in the circuit boards. I had windows XP, and I noticed that the generic Audio Device driver would transmit code with less issues than the Korg. But, the device was still useless.

I got a Nanopad replacement today - my old one stopped responding on several pads after only 4 months of use. I'm not sure how long the new one will work. It's such a disappointment! A wonderful idea with a terrible implementation quality-wise.

Hey.

On day 1 when I bought the nano set I had the stuck notes (no note off message transmitted) problem and the problem of other pads being simultaneously triggered when playing the nanopad.
I wasted an afternoon trying to find the problem and it is surely the unit itself.
So I've not used it since.

Now the usb connector on my nanokey has snapped off, so I am trying to use the nanopad again to play some drums, and it's a total reject, I can't use it.

The usb connector on my kontrol also broke the other day.

If I could use the nanopad it would surely only be a matter of time till that connector broke too, I would bet money.

Some keys on my nanokey have popped off a few times also.

I've noticed all these problems are common to the nano units (forums, friends who have bought them)

This is soooo dissappointing cause this was exactly what I had been waiting for, if only korg had made these well.

I am bummed.

Old thread but same problem here.

mine arived today and though im liking it im having the same problem with the pads remaining held. its not an issue with shorting by the look of it. more like the rubber pads themselves are gripping against the edge of the plastic suround not letting it release properly.

If i hit pad 1 on the left side it will stick but hitting it on the right side allows it to release. same on pad 5 but top and bottom.

tempted to trim the pads with a scalpel but will void warenty looks like im sending it back for a replacment
