I really appreciate your help with this, I tried it and I'm still getting nothing. I tried switching from Local on/off again.xmlguy wrote:Nope, still wrong connections. You need to plug into input 1 on the front, in the middle/center of the large round input labeled "MIC/INSTR. IN 1", and then the corresponding one on the back labeled "MIC/INSTR. IN 2".

No problem. Keep local on for now.
You now need to check the knobs and buttons on the front of the MOTU. You need to monitor IN 1 and IN 2. The pad switches might be on and need to be turned off. Or the level knobs on the front might be turned all the way down. If you still can't here it, try plugging in ANY music device you know that works into IN 1 and then mess with the MOTO until you can hear it. The MOTU should be able to let you directly monitor any of the inputs through the headphones. Until you hear the M1 in the headphones, do not proceed any further down the chain.

I tried with the switches, will keep playing with it. Do you think the M1 should have local on or off. I was told to set it to off awhile back?xmlguy wrote:No problem. Keep local on for now.

Thank you again - I really appreciate your help.
The purpose of this diagnosis is to get the audio from the M1 into your computer through the MOTU. It is easiest to do this if you simply press the keys on the keyboard. Midi is a completely separate issue that distracts from the central problem. Midi is not audio. Midi just triggers audio. Your fingers can trigger audio too, with nothing else involved.
At this point, I don't know if the M1 is actually sending audio out of its 1/L and 2/R outputs. If it is, I don't know if the MOTU is actually receiving it. Hearing the keyboard through the headphones will prove both. You could also see audio levels on the MOTU display when you press keys on the keyboards. You need to see SOMETHING displaying that audio is coming into the MOTU IN1 and IN2 inputs from the M1. Otherwise, you'll never hear it on the computer.

By the way, it's possible that you burned out the outputs of your M1 and on the MOTU when you had them hooked up to each other. You might try checking to see if you're getting anything out of the M1 by hooking the outputs to an amp, powered speakers, or anything that will let you hear if they're working or not.

No, thank you though, I tested it (plugged phones in) plus, there's a visible signal on the MOTU ultralite and in Logic. Been playing around with the ultralite's phone settings, still haven't figured it out though. This is so frustrating, it should be sound 101, you plug it in, you hear the sound.
There has to be a setting somewhere on the MOTU unit, I brought up the Cuemix software with it and the faders are up. ?
