RADIAS Front panel "16 keys" keyboard not working

Post by tyates »

Hi Folks,

Has anyone found that the "front panel keyboard" ie the 16 buttons dont work? I have selected the "keyboard" setting and the buttons dont act as a mini-keyboard - nothing happens! All is quiet!

This is very strange as it used to work..does the MIDI setting in GLOBAL parameters need to be set to something special, or..?

The RADIAS does respond to external MIDI keyboard or sequencer via MIDI, so the unit appears to be fine...

I am finding I want to use the 16button KEYBOARD mode in order to rapidly evaluate / hear patches before I use the sequencer..as there is only one MIDI in, I cant connect an external keyboard...

Many thanks,Tim

That function is deactivated when you connect the Radias' keyboard with the little cable in the back.

Hi Nemmo,

Thanks for taking the time to reply, but I forgot to mention that there is no external keyboard connected when I wanted to try using the front panel 16KEYS keyboard...

..Hmmm!!

are you using the radias in a MIDI loop? I *think* it will not work with local off.

Seems likely to me if you are using it with a sequencer.

are you connected by USB?

Mystery Solved!

Digging deeper into the Global Settings, I discovered that P04 MIDI that "LocalCtrl" was Off. Restoring it to On and saving the settings, fixed the problem!

Many thanks for the suggestions.

I am now finding the 16KEY keyboard very useful for rapidly evaluating patches when the sole MIDI input is used up by sequencer. (I find good old MIDI a lot more reliable than USB).

Regards, Tim

Id actually recommend using the USB. MIDI has quite a slow data rate and the USB is actually faster than the MIDI standard. Especially when running in a multitimbral sequencer setup or when using the editor, it will be a lot tighter.

I've never had any problems with the USB. Its certainly just as reliable as MIDI. although the driver instilation is potentially confusing for some.
