Single key accompaniment chord

Post by jmuppidi »

Hi,
I am trying to get the auto accompaniment chord sound of Yamaha psr-2000 on Triton Extreme using combis. [the single finger chord on the left side of the keyboard labeled 'auto accompaniment section' on psr-2000 or similar keyboard].

I tried to listen to many combis on extreme to see if I can find one and then started to come up with one of my own but could not get any close to the Yamaha chord after hours of tweaking. btw, I am not so well versed with programming Extreme. This accompany chord feature is intended for live performance while I play other lead sounds on the right side of keyboard.

Please any help or direction is much appreciated. If there are available combis that can jump start myself can be even better.

Thanks
Jay

you cant create an equvilant of psr accompainment.

First off this is an workstation synth, then,

Yammi got 8 tracks to bringout Accompain.

2 Rhythm
1 Bass
2 Chord
1 Pad
2 Phrase

These tracks are looped to a specific measure automatically with intelegiant chord recognition.

Now in EX - even if you lay down those tracks in combi, you won't be able to trigger chord recogniged loop except for 2 tracks.

By using arpegiator you would be able to have a smilar but only 2 track setup. Say 1 Rhythm and 1 Bass / Chord

If you need yammi arranger setup then go for Korg PA series.

this could possibly be achieved in sequencer mode using RPPR.
and that is the better way to do it really for a 'performance' on the extreme or any triton/Korg SEQ based workstation.

you can't get the chord recognition, because workstations tend not to have that kind of functionality, however, with the RPPR you could set up a number of different patterns for different instruments triggered by different keys...
i'm not sure if you can do multi-track patterns or have multiple patterns assigned to one key, but if you can then you could obviously pre-program the accompaniment in the correct chord, for each key in the lower octave.
or if you already know that for example you're only going to play a Cm, Gm, and B chord (very bad example I know), then you could just create those three patterns, and assign them to the lower C, C#, and D key.

I guess each ones needs are different, but just curious to know if anyone uses Korg extreme and Korg PA together for live performances.

By the way, which Korg PA can be a good choice to use along side with Extreme? Any suggestions? Looks like they are expensive.

Again, any inputs are appreciated.

I would suggest another workstation.

Yamaha Motif XS.
It has 4 simultanious arp. WITH chord recognisition.
You can trigger 5 variations with 4 different simultanious arp.
You also have patteren mode which is a WOW for live one man band setup.

You will also have an excellent set of acoustic instruments, Piano, Drums, Guitar, Bass.

together with Extreme's Brass, Synth, Lead, Strings and MOSS

you will have a setup which would be absolutely fantastic.
