I would appreciate any insight into this situation.
What works: I have attached my Roland Juno-2 keyboard to the M-50 via so that I can control it from the M50. I can play the M50 and hear sound out of the Juno and even change patches. However, I'm having 2 problems:
1) Can I set up a separate program for only the Roland so that when I go to a program (for example E124) it get only a certain program on the Juno? Right now unless I turn off local control in the global menu or turn down the M50 volume I also hear the M50 instrument also. Turning down the volume is fine unless I want to use the M50 drums.
2) How do i use the external Juno in the M50's sequencer mode? I can only play the Korg instruments in this mode. For example, I want to write a bass line to play back on the Juno, but I want want piano and drums to be from the M50.
I appreciate any help. Thanks, Geoff
Please help using M50 with external sound module via MIDI

for 2. you want to set that track to EXT or EXT2 mode. (on my TR this is in the PRM-1 page).
for 1.
there is no real way to set a program on the M50 for this. you could create a program based on a blank program, that has its volume set to zero, or with no multisample selected... but then that program would always relate to the same program on the roland. however you could then select the program using the roland's own front panel.
the best way to do it is through combi mode, just like you would in your sequence - an EXT timbre, setting the program there will obviously still show the M50 program name, but will send that program change message to the Juno, changing to that program. so if you wanted program 5 then just set it to program 5.
