New mac, new zero 8 and Logic....HELP!!!:)

Hi every 1 i'm new to this section. I have recently purchase a mac book pro and a zero 8.I'm reading 3 manual at the moment and at times it get confusing. I do have some knowledge but they were on pc with different setup and different daw.
My Q may sound silly but I thought I could record a cdj into logic going via the firewire of the zero 8 but get no signal in logic. It probably is a question of setting up the preferences i guess but i'm going around in circles at the mo.

I also stated to have a look to use the spdif plug of the zero 8 but haven't worked it out yet. The zero 8 manual is so thin you could see through it!!!!
