Using USB and copying a USB memory stick

Post by Fopperr.M3 »

Hi There,

A few times tried to copy my USB memory stick (I have the radias and 256 mb installed. With the expanded version you get 3 expansions for free).

Now it is very risky to don't have a back up from the memory stick. I was trying to copy it. It is not very difficult to copy the stick. But when I put the back up on to another usb memory stick and put this one in to the M3, it only starts the expanded version, but doesn't load the expansions.... Like a sort of file is missing on the back up stick.

has anyone of you got the same problem or is it maybe a error in my M3.

Thank you for reading my post.

As long as the expanded files are in the root directory ie not in a folder, it should load them fine.

It should work. After powering down, I've taken my USB flash stick and copied the entire contents to my computer desk top, then copied all those files to a different USB flash drive and inserted the new one in my M3, powered up and everything was there as it should be.

Now, if you are working with a Cruzer flash drive or one that has nonM3 related files imbedded on it, you will have problems. You need a clean/empty flash for M3 purposes only.

I would suggesting "drag copying" not Control V and Control P (copy and paste).

ok, thank you for your ideas.

I'm going to try dragging instead of ctrl C and ctrl V.

I never tried it, but is it possible to format the usb stick by the M3 itself?
everytime I tried to back up my USB memory stick, I used a new one.
