Hi.
Okay so over the years we all have collected patches/banks etc. of this wonderful synth. My question is a matter of Organization. There are literally thousands and thousands of patches for the WAVESTATION.
The question is how on earth do you file these? I mean it's almost like the patches/banks could use another file system,no?
I don't want to part with any of the sounds, but really would love a better file system then putting a bunch .syx files in random folders with names.
Anyhow, whats your method of containing and filing the banks/patches?
I'm thinking of starting to file these within cubases mediabay in the near future unless someone knows of a better alternative.
Thanks,Bob
Organization for many WAVESTATION patches, how do you do it?

You need a librarian/editor. I'm on a Mac so I use MOTU's Unisyn. They also make a Windows version but I wouldn't advise you to buy because it hasn't been updated for about four years now and looks like it may be dead-ended.
However, I'm sure there are plenty of decent Windows librarian softwares. I just don't know of any myself but here's a few links to get you started:
http://www.squest.com/Windows/MidiQuest ... About.html
http://www.synthzone.com/editlib.htm
http://www.harmony-central.com/Electron ... ftware.htm
Also Google "sysex librarian" and "patch editor/librarian."
EDIT: Oops! I forgot which forum I was on.
I own both the Legacy Collection and a hardware Wavestation SR. I use Unisyn to talk directly to the hardware but it doesn't work with the software Wavestation. So what I do is assemble custom banks using the SR and Unisyn, then transmit the banks back to the Mac and capture them using Sysex Librarian. I can then load them into the software Wavestation. Unfortunately, Sysex Librarian is Mac-only and I don't know of a similar product for Windows. But maybe Googling as recommended above can throw up a lead or two?
Kind regards.
