please just appreciate what you have. Korg have only just announced the latest operating system and you are demanding more ????? figure out what you are going to do with the 256 MB of ram that the PA2X can have first before you start asking for 1Gig !!! If you used 1Gig on the Yamaha you would be waiting over 1 hour for the machine to boot up after you switched it on. Please just settle down and make great music now. Dont worry about future developments.
For what it's worth.....
The Tyros has NO sampler, and as for the 1GB of RAM. Well, I hope this time around that Yamaha did something about the loading times.
The Tyros 2 had 1GB of ram also, but it took around """"""5 Hours""""""" to save 800MB.
Loading times where faster, but it still made anything over 256MB completely pointless as the keyboard is so slow.

Hi all,
Just wanted to say that the other night, I played my PA800 for a couple of hours through it's internal speakers. Some of the sounds made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. It is a truly awsome machine that improves as you get to know how to play these sounds. Electric piano with strings is without doubt the best E.Piano sound/ Performance I have ever played on any keyboard. Shoot me for saying it, but the Grand Piano RX is the one sound that does not do it for me. Apart from that this keyboard is faultless in my eyes. And when you think of the new O/S. Bingo!!!!!!
Put the Orchestral Tutti performance on, and play something from " Pirates".
It puts the keyboard into another class.
Sorry for getting on my soapbox, but lots of people seem to be knocking the arrangers at the moment ( not to say that some criticism isn't justified, especially for the techie guys ). But I have never been so happy with an arranger keyboard.
Chris
p.s. It does help having a Nord C1 organ and Roland P.K.5 pedalboard underneath it. All going through a Leslie 2102 and Tapco S5 monitors.

Don't be sorry, just move over and make room for me.....chelsea9075 wrote:Sorry for getting on my soapbox

I've owned and loved my Yamaha and Roland arrangers - they were tops in their day.
They still make good ones but are way behind Korg IMHO.
I haven't played the Tyros 3 but if it is simply an updated Tyros 2, I probably wont bother - however if it is a NEW keyboard, I will be fair and give it a go... (not selling my PA2X though!!

Cheers

Hello Chelsea. A funny post, because I was thinking exact the same. I am truly very happy with the PA800 and cannot believe some sounds and styles how good the are.chelsea9075 wrote:Some of the sounds made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. (...) But there are many sounds that I did not know: you know, when you have so many sounds, you just don't try them all right? Sometimes you are going through the banks and you see something new and than play it and then you think WOOOW
My personal favorite yesterday were the BAG PIPES. I play a lot of balkan music, but if I use the BAG PIPES i cannot believe myself playing it so perfect, because the sounds are so good. Not 100% but compared to other machines it is almost flawless.
The only thing I hate is the startup time of the PA800 waiting 2 minutes or something.
hey all,
@macboy... you mention your PA800 takes a couple of minutes to boot up.
could you or (someone else who uses the sampling) tell me how long for instance 16mb's worth of samples add on to the startup of the KB, or how long 32mb's adds (or 64mb even)?
can anyone answer what is the main factor in this process that determines the speed? is it hardware (slow RAM) or firmware (sloppy coding)
its the final hurdle i have in deciding to part with my beloved PA80, as this uses a flashcard and the samples are loaded straight from there... so no extra waiting time at all..
regards,
Vlad

Korg PA800
Thanks for that Tommy
you have swung it for me... a Musician collegue of mine had given me scare stories of his Triton Extreme and previously Triton LE taking well over 5 minutes... which is a little unacceptable... i am glad that korg have addressed this issue
Only 25 seconds extra is excellent...
right!! now to run it past the wife?!?!?

Korg PA800
Do not misunderstand me, my friends. I meant that I would see a pa800 with 256MB as a dreamer or slightly us say 128MB it is the thing I want to say .. but everyone knows that the Korg is 1,500 times better than the other crap .. but those are good developments. but my friends, I argued for a pa800 o not a pa2x pro .. and then I do not know what the new os is, it is a nice man who can tell me carefully, I am terribly happy .. And sorry it was not meant to devils you understood this all wrong .. KROG IS THE BEST AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST INSHALLA =) Best Korg Cheers Brother
