Playing the X50 thru the comp

Post by since1982 »

Hi folks!

I've got the editor software installed and my X50 is able to sync with the software but, the only way i can play sounds is if i plug my earphones directly to the X50 which also means it wouldn't sound if i plug in the earphones to my CPU and play the X50 which is synced to the software..

Is this normal? are there any steps i need to take to get my X50 to sound through my computer? Please share! Thanks! (:

You need to run the audio out of your X50 and into your computers soundcard. If it has a line-in, its probably a mini-stereo jack, so you'll need a cable that goes from two mono [L and R out of the synth] to a stereo jack and then an adapter to go from big stereo to small stereo jack. After that, use your Windoze mixer [or stupid Mac equivalent] to get the balance between your X50 and any music software right.

a stereo jack cable from the headphones out will work well too

thanks Bones and Volton for your replies! i tried what you suggested (getting a stereo cable and plugging in from the headphone jack to the CPU where there's a line-in jack which i think links up to the 'soundcard' in the comp.. and it works!! thanks so much again! : D
