Noisy KP3

Post by aber »

Hi,
I hear a lot of noise when an effect is activated on KP3 (especially reverb and delay)…. the noise is like an interference, it’s like a detuned radio…someone is experiencing a similar problem?
What could it be?

Thanks in advance.

Could it be a ground-loop?

Check your power cables, maybe the interfere with your audio cables. Try to seperate them as good as you can.

You can also try a different power socket, do you have a lot of equipment running on 1 socket?

Also, what is the longest length of cable you're using?

Macbook, mixer, kaoss pad, speakers and microkorg are running on the same socket....the cable max lenght is about 1,5 meters.
Thanks.

That wouldn't have to be a problem...

Try to hook everything up, one at a time. So first hook up your mixer and speakers, listen what happens.

Repeat these steps untill you hear the noise. Then at least you know the source.

Then try to connect the noise-source on a different socket or try a different power cable.

It's basically a trial and error search to find out how to solve this. It could be several problems, but the main thing is finding out the source!

Good luck

I, personally, get a lot of noise when using the Ring Mod. program "Mod5".
It's a bleedthrough. If it was a hardware Ring Modulator, I'd could adjust it to null it out, but...

Thanks.
High probability this is either "ground loop hum" or "RF noise". These can be caused by many factors, even *where* you live.

Getting another KP3 temporarily to A/B compare with each other will ultimately reveal if there is a problem with your unit. But if you get the noise on both, you're left with purchasing something like this:
