Ok, I think I have that problem now it seems...
So, I guess I have to design my own efx now? How do I do that so that my Combis sound as good as my Progs.

I use my TR with an Axiom controller when I play live. I can program my Combis to split and layer between the two keyboards AND I never have to change my Combi during the song. As far as it affecting the effects of the programs I use, I create my own programs and design them to sound good within the effect limitations I have on the TR.
Playing live is all about the performance and less about the sound quality. If you were under the microscope of a recording engineer, performance and sound quality are more equally important. Like Voltan said, even if you 'cut-off' or lose effects on a sound during a performance, people probably won't notice unless you are a solo keyboard act, in which case, you need to invest in a synth with more processing power.

I'm with you. What yahoo thought it was a good idea to leave out a couple of dollars worth of RAM and on-board writable storage? BTW - I've been playing in a band for 4 years with only Triton LE and I've been switching combis with that "horrible" cut-off and guess what? No one even notices that.
However, there are a couple strange things about the TR and LE that just don't make sense to me on Korg's part. Why couldn't it have come with Ram? I am sure they could have gotten a deal to put them in at less thatn a buck a piece... instead, every other thread on this forums is about "do I need ram, how do I install ram"?
