I don't know what it is. Some people swear by their Yammies, others by their Rolands, and again some love Korg. For me, nothing touches the OASYS sound. I just finished rebuilding my studio and the O is the centre of it all. Everything else is peripheral.

My 2 cents worth.

Here here,I still use 3 of my Korg W/S(2 tritons and a Trinity) for music making even though I have the Oasys,I loved the Tritons sounds, but even now I'm beggining to prefer the clarity of the Oasys in comparison, its just that so much cleaner and clearer that it punches through in a mix without too much eq'ing,I will of course still use the Tritons, but I'm slowly converting a lot of the programs/Combis (Where the PCM data exists),I cna see after a while not using the Tritons

I love Analog and gritty synths too and have a handful ofthose for them types of sounds, but the Oasys is by far and wide the best sounding Rompler on the planet at the Moment,it may not have the best sounds or do certain sounds like other workstations/Brands but it most definetly is a purer, and cleaner signal, and a pleasure to work with.

I checked out the new Motif today at a local store. Nice arps and drums......and a very clean "polished" sound, but it lacked depth and the rawness I can get from my good old Triton.

Still waiting to audition the M3.

Next time hit category search hit guitars and play the second classical guitar... You may have missed it because it plays and sounds like a real guitar and there isn't a guitar on the Oasys that sounds as good as that one. I personally think its a solid board, but an Oasys it will never be.

The drums, specifically on the XS Rock kit has the best toms I've heard but the hihats opened is poor. It could just be it needs to be edited.

I went through every bank, the drum kits etc. Some sounds were nice, but nothing to compare with my OASYS sounds. The articulation on the guitars sounded a bit artificial to me. As I said previously, I don't know what it is, but Yammies have never found their way to my set up.

Musicains have lots of sense of humor...

btw, if the guy doesn't even know the name of a Workstation how can he even judje it....?

Since you started the topic about yamaha XS, it remined me of Yamaha Motif XS.. IMO it actualy it deserves the name Workstation, as M3 is more like a performance keyboard.... I'm kinda sad, and have been sad since Motif came out and beat my favorite company: KORG, and it just gets worse and worse....

But it still doesn't really matter if a Workstation is better than other Workstation, unless the software doesn't take control of everything, which is my Worst Nightmare!! and it came true!!

I was thinking that if Roland made cars they would come out with a wonderful sports car that uses little fuel and is very comfortable and good looking.

Then you'd find out that the steering wheel can't move left or right and the company isn't interested in solving the problem.

Don't wait for the XS modual, just get an XS6, and put it on the second teer of your keyboard stand. It has the best sample set of any synth I've heard yet. A killer setup would be an Oasys on the bottom teer, and an XS6 on the top. All those XS sounds, and all those Oasys sounds and features, WOW! And, the XS6 and XS7 have a killer keyboard action! The M3 sounds good too, and I definitely think it's overall sound is better than the Fantom X. For those who can't afford an Oasys, an XS and an M3 would definitely be a killer setup.

I agree with you

BTW, I own the XS7, it is killer.

I noticed a group of folks pining away for a 'XS module'
I also said don't hold your breath, ' get the XS6 and be happy'

I like modules as well, I own the M3-M.

IMO, when a keyboard is that great, it is best to find a way to work it into your rig vs holding ones breath for a module that may never happen

HAHAhahaha!

I must say I really love my Triton (and will do more when I figure out how to steer that,) but I have to say I'd swap it for a V-Synth if I could/if anyone was mad enough to...
