Salam Amiri e jan:

Currently there is no such good software to convert Yamaha styles to Korg pa800. StyleWorks by EMC, that is suppose to convert styles from almost all other arranger keyboards to KoraPa800 should be out very soon. Per email I received from them last week, they are working on it and %80 ready but did not give me a date for the delivery of the software. So it is up to you to buy the Yamaha styles now and convert them later when the software is out. But do you have a way to listen to these styles before buying them? Is it a good price? At this moment there is no such good software to convert Yamaha styles to Korg. Best of luck. Khoda Hafiz.

You can convert YAMAHA styles to KORG very easily and thats only
because YAMAHA allows you to preview styles just like RAW styles.
On the Style itself, the extension .STY change it to .MID then you can
be able to preview it as a MIDI file and after that create a STYLE from
that MIDI file itself right on the PA800.

This is kind of new to me and how about the Tabla sounds, will they sound OK. Specially Afghani and Hindi Tabla beats are hard to duplicate. A friend of mine done this procedure before and told me that it will not sound like the original at all. Maybe there are steps that he failed to follow. Thanks for this info and hope to hear from you. I do have lots of Afghani/Indian Yamaha Styles when I owned my PSR 3000. This a very good news to me.

Best Regards,

Hi,

You can Preview Yamaha Styles completly and very easily inclusing all chords, Intros, Fills and everything which is in the style file.

The software for this is called " Live Styler " . First time I used this software was about 7 years ago but there is a new version arried which I downloaded a few weeks ago.

So, you can listen to Yamaha styles before you buy.

Thanks

As i said, YAMAHA styles need no software, cuz YAMAHA STYLE files are
just MIDI files with different EXT, change from .STY to .MID and thats all you need.
Live Styler is a different program and is meant for something else.

Salam brother e Aziz:

I have used the free StyleWorks 2000 that is given to us by Korg. On a few of the Yamaha styles it worked but on most of them it really sounded very bad. Per EMC they are just about ready to introduce their new version of StyleWorks 2000 for Pa800 in the very near future and god knows when will that be. Anyway I also send a PM on how to listen to Yamaha styles on your computer. By the way do not buy any Yahama Styles, because I do have at least 40 of them on my comupter saved. They are Afghani,Inidan, Iranian and Arabic. I will share them with you. They are free and I believe you should never pay for styles no matter what. We do share our styles and beats on this forum. I live in Southern California. You can contact me by sending me an email to my PM at: fahim@verizon.net. Best of luck.

Let me make another thing clear in here about converting style.
Do not think that a program can make a STYLE sound better or worst
on another machine, conversion has nothing to do with the actual sound.
What a conversion program does is just converting the format of the file.
Any style i convert from one machine to another, sometimes on the other
sounds A LOT better then the original machine.
A converted style after conversion need A LOT of work to be done on the
new destination, MIXING, REASIGNING SOUNDS, REEDITING DRUM MAPS
and all kind of things and yes it can sound as good as the origina or maybe
a little better then that, the program itself does nothing to the SOUNDING.

Hope that helps

Amiri, you can change the extension on your computer, by simply renaming the files. than you can listen to it on your computer or on the PA800, whatever you want. It is just a normal MIDI file like all the other files.

What Nedim is saying, is not to keep focussing on the sound you will hear, because it needs a lot of tweaking to make it sound the same, or even better. So do not base the result on the sole MIDI file.

I have a Yamaha MM6 and I'm looking for afghani style files. Where can I find these files? Can you please help me?
Also here is a link to some Iranian and Arabic style files.

An MM6 is not an arranger and there is no styles for it, thats a SOLO machine.
