Fantom X controlling the EMX-1

Anyone using their EmX-1 controlled via a Roland Fantom X? I hooked it up this afternoon thinking it would be a piece of cake but found it didn't work quite like I intended! Midi out, fantom x to midi in on the emx-1. Set emx to slave and the fantomx to master. set the fantom to midi channel 10 and ...

Firstly you need either a catchy riff/melody and or a catchy chorus. Although there are many great songs that don't have a chorus. Structure. If your trying to hone your song writing skills try writing something simple; a verse-chorus-verse-chorus type thing. Don't worry about getting too technical ...

If it's brand new send it back and get an exchange. The emx should be up and running in about 20-30 seconds. If you fiddle about with it you will void your warranty. If on the other hand you have had it a few weeks but it is 2nd hand then you might as well give it a go. Just be careful when removing ...

Thanks for the reply. I never thought of that! Maybe I could get a bit more control of the envelopes this way. I had a nova. I only sold it cos I've got the Supernova. Very good synths. I think the supernova only has more FM parameters, apart from that they are identical. I did have the KS rack but ...

more control over amp and filter envelopes

Apologies in advance if this thread has been covered.

Is there anyway to get more control over the amp and filter envelopes of the EMX-1?

Thanks.

You got the same model as me the SM version. Bought mine of ebay, had a dodgy power supply but the seller graciously refunded me the cost of a new power supply. I just got two SM cards of ebay. Both are used but one is 128mb and the other 64mb. Formatted them saved and loaded to check they're ok ...

This may sound like a dumb question but why aren't you using a SD card in the first place?

Have you tried just using headphones? Set the esx on it's own and try using the headphone out to see if the problem happens. if it doesn't then the tubes are ok. In which case it coud be an output problem or the cable to the external unit. If the problem is still there the tubes maybe faulty ...

I agree. The stock tubes don't really do it for me. They appear to go from nothing to just full on distortion. I want something like your saying, just something to add warmth but also to get some nice harmonic tones in the upper registers. Have a look at this, it's quite interesting; http://www ...

Yeah your right the oldr SM version is 9V and the SD is 12V. Ordered my new PSU from Korg so hopefully get it in time for the weekend. Also been having another look round the net for different tubes. The price varies considerably from £12-£60 and over! Just wondered what the more expensive ones w ...

Phoned Korg UK tech support today and they confirmed my thoughts about the power supply. It is faulty they said it my last a month or it may die tomorrow. So looks like I'll be getting a new one £35 from korg spare dept.

Hey Wavemaker, Thanks for the advice. I really love this machine. I will contact Korg UK tomorrow and see about a new power supply. Just to be on the safe side, I don't want it having an adverse effect on the EMX. As for the tubes I think I will definately invest in some new tubes. I've been ...
