No idea what causes the random cutoff or vibrato etc? Today a new thing happened. All editing parameters showed numeric values from 0-127 when turning knobs, even those that should show 'letters' such as the virtual patch source and destination. WTF is happening to my microkorg? Like I said, won't ...

I may have posted overkill here in terms of hardware technical question. In the other post I describe a handful of hardware related malfunctions on the MK I own, such as malfunctioning release knob, vibrato and cutoff added 'out of the blue', self-copied patch, etc. Heck, this must be challenging ...

Troubleshot Microkorg's dead keys - confusing results
Ok, so my MK's first few adjacent keys stopped working seemingly out of the blue. Me and an electrician troubleshot it all the way from keys to the interior of the circuit board with a multimeter and careful probing. No detectable culprit was found! The keys still don't work.. BUT, the notes do work ...

Thanks guys. I know feel confident that it's not one of those issues with a straightforward solution. The only clue other than dead keys is that they're a cluster of 5 adjacent keys. Looking at the ribbon cables it seems each individual cable handles several keys since otherwise there wouldn't be ...

To he with it I'll answer myself
Better than a complete absence of replies. This seems always the case at the korg forums. Like there's 1 answerer per 100 readers - very annoying.
Alright, so your keys may be dead because of something you can't see with the naked eye, good luck.

4 dead keys on the Microkorg - suddenly
So when I picked up the MK the other day to play around I noticed the lower C up to E didn't sound - at all. The previous time around they did sound, and nothing out of the ordinary occurred in between those uses such as a drop or other hard impact. I searched online, but disappointingly the answers ...

It would be difficult to tell without hearing it. What you are describing should not happen. Equally, a sine wave should not really cancel out a square wave because the other harmonics of the square would not cancel out. Actually, is it the sine wave that you're not hearing? That would make more ...

One oscillator dead on some notes
Trying to put together a patch on the MK here, starting with a sine wave for oscillator 1 and square wave for the second. And putting their volumes at max. Every other 4th note or so only one of the oscillators sounds, the second is dead. Is this what they call 'phase cancellation', or is it just ...

Re: Microkorg midi issue - velocity
Is there any way to adjust the velocity response when using microkorg as a midi keyboard? Currently the volume does not seem proportionate to how hard the keys are being struck. And when playing chords sometimes, some notes almost sound dead unless you strike really hard, which isn't the case with ...

Re: bad cables
Yes, if you get one or two five-pin DIN cables you can connect the microKorg directly to the MIDI interface already on your audio interface. It will do the job of both. That would also be cheaper than buying another interface and would help to prove your problem lies with the interface. Generally ...

I think one factor has been completely missed here: the MIDI interface. You haven't mentioned the XL so I assume you're using the original microKorg with a USB-MIDI interface. Particularly perhaps one of those cable-like interfaces like the E-MU xMIDI 1X1. These interfaces are known to have some ...
