Re: Playing audio backing tracks on the Kronos 3... easy(ish)?
What's your use-case? There are 10,000 better ways to play backing tracks than trying to route them through the KRONOS. But yeah, you can play them from the disk, you can use the audio inputs, you can record a sample and assign the sample to a note on the keyboard, you can record into the sequencer ...

Re: Reverse Engineering a PROG? "Offbeat Dancerific"
Okay, I at least figured out how I can use the PROG. I used the common step seq to make it play a repeating melody, so that's good. I just need now to figure out how I can alter the tone without ruining what's good about it lol. For anyone curious, I'm using it to create the intro synth sequence for ...

Re: Reverse Engineering a PROG? "Offbeat Dancerific"
If the question is about the sound produced by playing the Program with KARMA off, then it's worth using a reductionist approach, basically turning off various parts of the Program, and finding out what changes. Firstly, go to the EXi1 | Step Seq/LFO | Step Sequencer tab, and set all 15 of the ...

Reverse Engineering a PROG? "Offbeat Dancerific"
Hi, guys, so I'm trying to figure out how a certain PROG works (D117 - "Offbeat Dancerific", a PROG with a single AL-1). This is in the Motion Synth category. I can't figure out what's going on; what's making the not "bounce" around to the tempo, etc. I've read the Parameter Guide for the entire AL ...

Re: Total Effects - Do I need outboard gear or...?
Just to close the loop on this, yes, having identical TFX on each preset solved my problem. My soundman explained how it affected the EQ graph he was looking at and overall everything sounded much more even. I simply added a Stereo Multiband Comp in TFX 1 and a Stereo Mastering Limiter on TFX 2. I'm ...

Re: Best Reverbs for Kronos.
While I don't use outboard reverbs for the KRONOS (I feel the built-in ones are more than sufficient), some of my favorite reverbs that work well with anything are: Cornerstone Music & Paul Davids Nucleo Reverb Eventide H9 Poly Beebo (lots of built-in convolution reverbs) Tons of flavors out there ...

Total Effects - Do I need outboard gear or...?
So I have about 30 patches; everything from basic piano to crazy combis that use 14 channels (I play in a Taylor Swift tribute). I have an issue with getting all my presets (and parts within) to the same/nominal level. They're close, and I tell the soundman that a comp/limiter would be ideal for my ...

@hardsync - thank you! That's the best reply I've gotten out of the half dozen places I've posted this question! Or, at least, it's given me a few new avenues of troubleshooting that I can work with. I'll mess with it tonight and see what I come up with. For reference, it didn't matter if I was in ...

RT Knob only works for 1 of 2 PROG EXi modules in COMBI?
Got a problem that’s driving me crazy. I have a PROG with two EXi modules. (PolySixEX & AL-1, if it matters). While I’m in the PROG, I can use RT Knob 1 to control the cutoff frequency of both EXis. It sounds great, as the AL-1 generates noise to compliment the PolySix, and it goes from pure wooly ba ...

USB MIDI in, No MIDI Thru?
Hi all. Looking to control my Kronos and Axe Fx III via my iPad running OnSong so that when I change songs in OnSong, it loads up the appropriate presets on my Axe and the appropriate songs in Setlist mode on my Kronos. The problem is, if I connect via the USB-B port on the back of the keyboard ...

Dang. Sorry to hear that, TC. I've only had one time at the VERY end of the night where my K261 suddenly stopped outputting sound randomly. I just switched combis and came back and it was working again, but it was a head-scratcher. I still have confidence in it, though :) My K288 at home still has ...
