Korg's website has now been updated. New firmware, presets, and a general rework of the e2/e2s pages to have a lot more info. I can't update though :/ I don't have the 1.19 firmware (currently on 1.18), and it doesn't seem to be available anymore. Plus I've lost my SD card reader >_< EDIT: I'm ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94DViygBaP0 Here's the youtube link from the italian news article. I think it might still be unlisted, so don't worry if the links don't work yet, I don't think it was supposed to be announced yet. There's also new presets, along with red/blue versions and the 2.0 ...

Electribe 2 / Electribe sampler already work pretty well with the volca sample - the electribe maps 16 midi channels to it's 16 pads when in Trigger mode, which works well with the sample's channel-per-sample midi implementation.

Keystep apparently will work from USB power, including USB battery packs.

I think that'll be my solution.... or at least it would have been if I hadn't gotten the Reface DX. Might grab the Keystep anyway.

Yep, read the manual for your volca bass, the midi channel can be changed. You hold a key while powering it up, then use the 16 keyish buttons of the touch strip to select a midi channel. Electribe will send one sequence per pattern per midi channel. I recommend leaving it on one midi channel, and ...

No it hasn't. The keystep, for all that it looks like a neat piece of gear, doesn't run on batteries. And the nanokey studio is a computer-controller that has midi over bluetooth or USB but not, you know, a midi cable. If you want real midi out and battery power, there's a pair of Behringer ...

Battery powered, small keyboard, real midi out:

Roland boutique
Yamaha Reface
Korg microkorg

You might think that it was possible to have small battery powered keys with a 5-pin din out.... *Without* a polysynth attached! You would be wrong. That product does not exist.

Yep, that'll work. If you push play on the volcas, and you've got the sync in port plugged in but no signal, they'll wait on the sync signal to play (trying to stay in sync with something that isn't happening).

Holy s**t. Step mode + touch scale could be the step-by-step recording mode that I've been wishing step edit was.

Thanks for the tip :)

slide edit in the sequencer would be nice too. as would a proper step rec mode, where you can enter notes one at a time. (we *kinda* have this. but you get an encoder knob to enter notes with lol) why the f*ck do the volca bass/volca keys have sequencers that have more features than the electribe ...

They can't do a (complete) checksum, because they don't know how the firmware does look like look after they updated it. So there's no way to tell the correct checksum to the machine in advance. They could use a checksum in the firmware itself. The idea is that if the file is changed by accident ...

Pads very unresponsive for anything but the most basic playing By default there's no velocity response. You have to turn it on per-part in the menu. Yes, this is bullshit. Toughpad just horrible quality, the layer on the top of it doest seem to sit flush The pads are perfectly flat and aligned with ...

dutchcow: glad to hear you're channeling your dislike for the e2 into something productive. I hope your project goes well :) there's certainly big improvements that could be made, especially with regard to user interface. First, pitch bend. I would love to be able to bend notes using the touchpad, and have that performance recorded into the sequencer. It'd also be nice if it responded to pitch bend over MIDI. Autoglide. Glide on every note just sounds bad, I would really like to be able to have it *only* on held ...
