Controlling Timbre volumes via MIDI ?

Post by DungBeatle »

Hi,

I've got this MIDI controller with 8 assignable sliders, and would like to dedicate 4 of them to the four RADIAS timbre volumes. I looked in the manual to see which CC I need to use, and found nothing that gets close..

Am I missing something obvious? Or is it simply impossible?

Thx.

Hi,

I think you should use CC#07, which is the amp level of timbre. AAIK there is no other way to mix timbres.
On top of that, you'll need to set up a separate MIDI channel per timbre, in order to control each timbre separately.
I'm not sure though that you can still trigger all timbres with one keyboard, because that on sends notes on 1 MIDI channel...

Other approach is to keep all timbres on the global midi channel, so that one keyboard (layered or split) can trigger each timbre,
but you set up in each timbre one virtual patch with as destination the Amp level, choose a certain intensity and as source choose for each timbre another MIDIx.
With the factory settings, “MIDI1” is assigned to #016, (CC#16), “MIDI2” to #002 (CC#02), “MIDI3” to #080, (CC#80), “MIDI4” to #081 (CC#81), and “MIDI5” to A.Touch.
This allows you to use one midi channel and using 4 different CC control each timbre separately.

Good luck.
