ipad as midi controller for krome
Does anyone know how to do this? I've been playing around and experimenting for hours. I can't find any info on how to do this. I just want to have a couple keys i can trigger from my ipad to play on my krome. I have the USB connection working but can't control my own keyboard. I've been able to send MIDI out to the ipad though...

rockytriton,
I think the issue is a combination of software and direction (for lack of a better word).
It seems likely that the software you're using is (nominally) for sound generation and not MIDI output. The Krome's USB connection is providing an overriding master control that replaces whatever "keyboard" is provided in the software. Krome >>>>> iPad.
The iPad's software "keyboard", unless specifically purposed for that, is probably not sending anything like MIDI back down the line to control your Krome; in fact plugging in the USB connector is probably turing it off.
You may be able to find a "control surface" that will send notes back, but I don't know of one, off hand. I think there may be a Yamaha App that sends out Motif-based arp data and drum patterns, but nothing else springs to mind.
You might have better luck with a secondary "nano" controller - pad or keyboard - that is purpose-built to send note-in via USB/MIDI connections. Check Guitar Center's used gear section for the cheapest alternatives.

I use a iconnectmidi2 and it works flawlessly for controlling Krome with your ipad. You can also send ipad audio into your pc for daw recording but I mainly use it for controlling multiple VSTs using the Genome step sequencer.
If all else fails at least you know there is a product out there that will do the job.
